Saturday Aug 3 #

Swim 20:00 [3] 0.25 km (1:20:00 / km)

Short swim at the Erindale pool to try and loosen my back - seemed to work.

Friday Aug 2 #

10 AM

MTB 1:48:57 [3] 16.0 km (6:49 / km) +250m 6:19 / km

Short slow steady ride with Liz to look at the progress on the Stromlo pool then to coffee at the Denman Prospect shops - and back to Duffy Heights. Nice weather for riding - lots of roos around looking relaxed - despite the recent kangaroo cull evening (when we could hear the rifle shots).

6 PM

Run 47:33 [3] 7.2 km (6:36 / km) +200m 5:48 / km
ahr:143 max:183

Back to running technique training at the arboretum. Not as cold as last time and only needed the headlight for about three quarters of the session. Straight up the terraces for the warm up - then 6 loops with no breaks on a short course with a hill climb, a downhill and then a long straight . Meant to run the hill climb and flat at faster pace. Followed with 4 laps of the crescent (each about 150 metres) at 80 per cent pace. Then back downhill to the cars.

6 AM

Strength and conditioning 1:00:00 [3] 1.0 km (1:00:00 / km)

Nice mix of exercises and some new ones thrown in for good measure.
9 AM

ride with Peter 1:39:26 [3] 39.44 km (2:31 / km) +404m 2:24 / km
ahr:120 max:152

With Peter in Milan (and the rest scattered to wind) it was up to Des and I to make up the peloton for the LBG circuit. Nice sunny day but cool air. Managed to just keep up with Des altho he gave me the win on the hill sprint - sharing around the prize money. Legs a bit sore afterwards.

Tuesday Jul 30 #

Run 1:04:59 [3] 10.03 km (6:29 / km) +202m 5:53 / km
ahr:135 max:151

Same run I did with Grant on 16 July - with him in the lowest part of Australia I did it by myself today - faster by about 2.5 minutes with a lower heart rate max by 7 beats but the same average heart rate - felt stronger after 3 days of cross country skiing at Falls Creek which might explain the time improvement - plus less talking today. Nice sunny day and warm compared to Falls Creek namely 7C compared to -1C.

Sunday Jul 28 #

X Country skiing 3:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (18:00 / km) +150m 16:45 / km

Time and distance an estimate - did 2 skate skiing sessions - a practise by myself first from Windy Corner to the dam wall and back - with a bit of time spectating the Australian cross country ski champs race. Then a second ski with L and K past the dam wall out to the south and back - technique improving (slowly). Pretty sore by the end of that day.
