2 PM

Run 25:08 [3] 3.65 km (6:53 / km) +52m 6:26 / km
ahr:124 max:135

Short jog to try and maintain leg running strength whilst recovering from the sore area on ribs. Felt better jogging up hill than down. 4 loops on a path on the less windy side of Narrabundah hill.
3 PM

Strength and conditioning 20:00 [3] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)

Series of the exercises usually done on Wednesday morning session.

indoor cycling trainer 1:01:00 [3] 1.0 km (1:01:00 / km) +40m 50:50 / km
ahr:99 max:120

Put the road bike on my bike trainer to get some exercise while recovering. Not sure how I got 40 metres of climb altho I did get off the bike once and tried peddling standing up a few times! Rib pain OK while riding with tablets. Saw doctor on another matter and he thought there might be a fracture - will see in time with 2 weeks being a good judge (so if still sore then more likely a fracture).

Run 45:52 [3] 7.06 km (6:30 / km) +131m 5:57 / km
ahr:135 max:147

Around Mt Taylor - not a great start with a fall in the first 200 metres on some rocks - pretty sore big toe joint and ribs on LHS after that - in trying to break the fall I somehow managed to drive my left hand knuckle into the side of my ribs - continued with the run but felt sore in both places - worse when I cooled down - but drugs afterwards seemed to help. Might need to have a couple of days off training I expect to recover.

Short spin on the single tracks at Stromlo - nice.

O race 1:22:49 [3] 9.34 km (8:52 / km) +274m 7:44 / km
ahr:139 max:158

Awoonga map which is classic spur gully - only ran there previously a couple of times and that was quite a while ago. Needed to keep up concentration as chose a long course (Red 2), had to to climb a lot at the end and contours vague enough you needed to be careful. Low rocks also needed watching to avoid tripping. Advertised as 8.1 kms so there was limited route choices given the distance I actually did. Only real error was from the last control to the finish where I lost about 1. 5 minutes (getting very tired). Enjoyable event in terms of a runnable area - blew my chance to beat O-ing tho given I had nearly a 4 minute lead after control 2.
