MTB 1:10:41 [3] 14.81 km (4:46 / km) +157m 4:32 / km

Rode from home and back to the zoo single tracks to do some gardening - pruning overhanging blackberry and other prickly bushes which made the track less than optimal. Not easy riding with garden secateurs in one hand over rough terrain.

MTB 1:34:09 [3] 22.63 km (4:10 / km) +380m 3:50 / km

Usual arboretum ride for coffee and long chat - took it easy on the way back for a change and actually saw the countryside rather than a blur.

Run 26:25 [3] 4.5 km (5:52 / km) +94m 5:19 / km

Training group run a bit easier - sort of - warm up shorter and less climb - then intervals starting near the break dancer - up hill followed by a rolling downhill single track then back to start - 8 times with a 1 minute rest between - each leg took a bit over 2 minutes. Then a surprising walk back to the cars - it was getting hot by 8 am tho.

ride with Peter 1:41:11 [3] 39.86 km (2:32 / km) +403m 2:25 / km

Gentle LBG ride for a change - plus a bit of a hold up with a tree fallen over the bike path - peloton of 6. Legs tired.

Loop run around outside and thru Mulligans Flat Nature reserve with Grant. Up close to some very friendly roos. Nice running conditions - overcast and coolish.

MTB 1:19:15 [3] 16.38 km (4:50 / km) +302m 4:26 / km

Long champs - well set course and the right length for me. Nice mix of fast riding on fire trails, some nice single tracks, some mud and plenty of route choices. Redeemed myself with a podium finish but still a while behind the winner. Route choice to 6 was too conservative as tried to minimise the single track by approaching it from the east (i.e. from behind). Plus gearing means having to push the bike still up really steep tracks such as near to 7 - other seem to be able to ride these tracks, albeit slowly. Did drop a minute or two to help a friend who is a newcomer to MTBO. He was off course a bit as going to 3 he took a turn too early - I was riding 4 to 5 that way at the time. Importantly he is keen to come back again to MTBO and is both a good M60 rider and reasonable navigator and an Aranda resident.
