Cold start for the coffee ride to the arboretum - despite 2 sets of gloves the tips of my fingers were coold. Bit nicer in the zoo pines. Liz and I were joined by our running mates for coffee. Slightly warmer for the ride home. Trails in the arboretum are so nice to ride at present as pretty smooth.

Day 3 KBIII - another new map - Breakfast Creek - lots of very big boulders - great area. Lack of match fitness showing as felt tired on the hills - plus lack of being in the terrain showing. Apart from being too slow the only wobble was 9 were I misread the map looking for a high point which was on the left of the creek - but I could not see it with all the rocks and cliffs- instead went for the back dot on the right side of the creek (all in the circle) - also had a poor attack point so not sure where I was in the creek full of rocks. Lost about 5 to 6 minutes I guess. The 4WD aspect of the new van again helpful in avoiding being bogged in the car park (unlike others). Overall, finished 7th for the 3 days in a field of 17 - was as high as 5 after day 1.

Day 2 KBIII - Dungeree Forest - another new map for me - altho it was an old map without parts of the vegetation updated - spur gully - I enjoyed the course but again limited jogging involved. Only wobble was 8, the second last control, when I passed by the termite mound but waist high bushes meant I went down the ridge a bit too far - so lost maybe a minute. 4WD new van helped to avoid being bogged getting to (and from) and in the car park (unlike others). Lot of rain in the area the weekend before so did not take much to go thru the crust of the surface.
