12 PM

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: VJ Supra

Warm up before SoSOL at Binning Wood.

Orienteering race 47:15 [5] 6.8 mi (6:57 / mi)
shoes: VJ Supra

SoSOL at Binning Wood. Enjoyed running there at the Scottish Relays last year so made the effort to go through to run there again - and I'm keen to get as much orienteering practice as possible.
Legs very stiff and heavy and generally feeling a bit tired but got round okay. The course was a bit easier than it could have been with a lot of track running (or at least I didn't see much alternative).
A couple of mistakes -
Went via No 2 to get to No 9 but overshot No 2 on the track and lost about 20 seconds.
Stupidly decided to take the (very) long way round the tracks between 14 and 15. Lost a minute!
Shattered when I got home and fell asleep for an hour. Legs sore so I'll need to get back in to my strength and conditioning again.
Easy week coming up.

Note

Just seen the start list for the Masters XC Champs next Saturday. A very good M60 field entered even though two of the best are missing. Shame Eddie Stewart isn't running as it would have been really interesting to see how he'd get on racing Alastair Walker. All three of my team mates from the British & Irish Masters XC Champs (who all beat me!) are running. Will have to have a very good run to get a medal!

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: ASICS Gel Hyper Speed 6

Warm up before Linwood Parkrun.

Running race 19:01 [5] 3.1 mi (6:08 / mi)
shoes: ASICS Gel Hyper Speed 6

Not sure what happened here but I ended up at Linwood Parkrun on my own without Mrs P! My training schedule had me down for a tempo run so I turned up and ran it. Mrs P still off work and just out of bed after her seemingly inocuous fall last Sunday trying to get off the hill in the white-out and subsequent trip to A&E for an X-Ray to her right shoulder. Turns out she's badly damaged a tendon in her shoulder and is only now able to deal with the pain and start moving her arm / shoulder.

Anyway - had a reasonably good run but slow time in the wind and rain, and the floods. I've never seen the course so wet and soft with many large puddles and some lengths of flood water to run through. It was the alternative course yet again because of the floods. Still a bit off the pace at the moment.

Running warm up/down 24:00 [3] 3.1 mi (7:45 / mi)
shoes: Salamon Shigarri

Changed in to my trail shoes and went for a cool down run round the usual Parkrun course. At least the rain had gone off by then.

Running 27:00 [3] 3.2 mi (8:26 / mi)

Easy recovery run from work to the Lomondgate SUDs Pond, a few laps and back. Sore throat, suffering and legs sore. Need to ease back I think.

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Kiprun SD

Warm up before track session.

Running intervals 36:00 [5] 4.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Kiprun SD

Track session with the athletic club at Linwood track. Woke up feeling shite and with a bit of a sore throat. Again I felt better as the day went on but once I started the session I knew I was going to have a tough run.
Session was 6 x ((300m (100m easy jog in 1min) + 600m (200m easy jog in 2mins)).
Was way off the pace and finished well behind the group. Throat sore, legs sore and left foot really sore. Not a good day!

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Kiprun SD

Slow and painful cool down run round nearby streets.

Wednesday Jan 24 #

7 PM

Running 1:11:00 [3] 8.5 mi (8:21 / mi)
shoes: Kalenji Kiprun Trail XT6

Woke up to a sair heid and a sore throat, but felt better as the day went on. Two laps of the same circuit I ran yesterday. Really muddy underfoot and a few floods to run through. Good fun but a few niggles, especially my hamstrings which are very tight. Back still sore from Saturday.

Tuesday Jan 23 #

6 PM

Running 37:00 [3] 4.25 mi (8:42 / mi)
shoes: Kalenji Kiprun Trail XT6

Legs shot and back and shoulder still sore from Saturday's fall so an easy recovery run from the house round the Oilfields and Craigends. A lot of water lying about and the grass areas waterlogged.
