Track session with the athletic club at Linwood track. Session was 15 x 400m (100m easy jog recoveries in 1min).

Unfortunately I had absolutely nothing in the tank and struggled really badly. Dropped out after 10 reps. Didn't do a cool down as I was so knackered.

Not sure what happened but perhaps a lot of running over the past few weeks, lack of sleep (3 hours last night!), and long, stressful days on my feet at work out on site this week had something to do with it.

Run from work, through Dumbarton and up to Overtoun Estate, a lap of the paths round the pond and back. Shattered!

Off work today so headed out for a cycle with Mrs P from the house to the cycle track, to Linwood, Johnstone, Lochwinnoch and Kilbirnie and back. Lovely day for it.

Hill reps with the athletic club on Craigends Hill. Weather turned really bad - heavy rain and a strong wind in our faces on the up-hills. Session was 10 x uphill and steady back down recoveries. Times slower then usual due to the weather but running okay.

Warm up before TINTO Twin Day Event.

TINTO Twin Day Event at Carmichael Estate. Breathing bad again today so not moving as well as I wanted. Was quite lucky that the sleet went off not too long after I started.

The object of this was to get some more terrain running in my legs (Carmichael Hill with 3" of wet slushy snow on top of the heather and tussocks was quite hard work) and to try and flow through the controls - which I more or less managed.

Made a couple of small mistakes though -

Lost about 30secs on No 1 when I stopped short of the control when I couldn't persuade myself to climb high enough to the control.

Lost another 30secs on No 2 when I was too low and had to climb back up to the control.

Annoyed to see one of my rivals run across an out of bounds field!

Had a very interesting chat with a fellow M60 asthma sufferer on the problems of trying to start running when you can't breathe. Turns out it's not just me.

Linwood Parkrun. Fairly grim experience. The weather was fairly awful - cold, wet and windy and the course was badly flooded in many places. So much for the new path works which have made the path worse than before in many places. We're going to complain the contractor and withhold payment from him until he fixes it.

I was also feeling really tired and my breathing was terrible. I've now got a theory about this and will apply it over the next few weeks and see if it makes a difference.

Recovery run from work up to the Lomondgate SUDs pond. Decided to retire my trusty Salamon Shigarri's after nearly 700 miles as I can feel they have no bounce in them anymore.

Fairly unpleasant cycle home from work - very wet and windy, especially from Barrochan to Houston.
