Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
(injured) shoes: VJ Supra

Hobbled from the assembly to the start of 2019 6-Days Day 1. Thigh really sore in spite of two Ibuprofen (I have never taken pain killers before!) but some prolonged easy jogging at the start eased it off a bit.

Orienteering race 1:00:39 [5] 5.5 mi (11:02 / mi)
(injured) shoes: VJ Supra

6-Days Day 1 at Auchingarrich. Thigh sore and very aware that I hadn't done any orienteering for 2 months so tried to concentrate on the map reading.

Got as far as No 10 without any mistakes apart from losing 1 minute heading down the wrong ride between 1 and 2 and was lying in 2nd place..

Then made a complete mess of 10 - 11. Navigated carefully to the wrong place eventually relocating on the crag 150m north of No 11. Lost 3 1/2 mins!

Too high on No 12, another 30secs lost.

Hadn't a clue what was going on at No 14 and lost another 2mins looking in the forest to the south of the control.

Another minute lost trying to find a way through the bracken between 16 and 17 (and I had a late start!).

Very surprised to finish 4th after binning so much time and not running at my best. Thigh too sore for a cool down.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch SS18

Warm up before Elgin Parkrun.

Running tempo 20:12 [4] 3.1 mi (6:31 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch SS18

Tempo run round the Elgin Parkrun trying to be sensible and not over do it and save something for next week. But I was very aware of my right quad all the way round.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [3] 0.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch SS18

Short cool down jog on the grass. My left quad was in agony when I started jogging and I hoped it would ease off after a while but it didn't and I had to stop 'coz the pain was so bad. Don't know what I've done to it 'coz I've never had any problems with it before and I had to indication it was in any distress before I ran the Parkrun. Really sore even when walking.

Not looking great for the 6-Days but I'll give it a shot.

Running 37:00 [3] 4.5 mi (8:13 / mi)

Run from the cottage to Sanquhar Loch then on to Cluny Hill, various loops of the trails and back before it got too hot.

Running 35:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:45 / mi)
shoes: VJ Supra

Terrain run in Roseisle before it got too hot. Usually I have the forest to myself but today it was full of junior squads doing some training. Legs a bit more tired than I'd hoped for!

Mountain Bike 2:20:00 [3] 15.0 mi (9:20 / mi)

Cycle from the cottage over to Culbin with Mrs P on the mountain bikes. Lap of the east end of the forest and back. Hot!
4 PM

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Warm up run from the cottage over to Sanquhar Woods.

Running intervals 24:00 [5] 3.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Aware that I haven't been doing any speed work recently and am also thinking about priorities after the 6-Days so decided to do some of the interval session I would have done at the athletic club on Monday evening on the undulating trails in Sanquhar Wood. The full session was 7 x (1min (30secs easy jog recovery) + 2mins (1min easy jog recovery) + 1min (30secs easy jog recovery)), but I only did 4 of the sets.

Good fun in spite of the heat and much needed.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Cool down run back to the cottage.

Orienteering 50:00 [3] 5.5 mi (9:05 / mi)
shoes: VJ Supra

More orienteering training in Culbin but not sure if it was of much benefit. It was very hot (27C according to the temperature gauge on the car), I was tired from the hill race, and the section of Culbin I was in was full of thigh deep heather, so it was a bit of a plod.

I've always found I don't enjoy orienteering training much, but enjoy running and leaving the orienteering to the competitions.

Mountain Bike 52:00 [3] 12.0 mi (4:20 / mi)

Mountain biking to Findhorn and back on the cycle track with Mrs P.
4 PM

Running 49:00 [3] 6.0 mi (8:10 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Recovery run from the cottage to Sanquhar Loch, a lap of the loch, then on to Sanquhar Woods and did various loops of the wonderful woodland trails, then back to the cottage. Legs tired after yesterday's race but all okay apart from that. Really hot, humid and windy.
