10 AM

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch SS18

Good warm up before Paisley 10k.

Running race 38:42 [5] 6.2 mi (6:15 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch SS18

Paisley 10k. As predicted it wasn't pretty and it was wet and windy! Nothing in my legs and plodded round watching my rivals pass me and pull away. At least I managed to win the M60 prize, so a big thanks to the other top M60's for not turning up.

Serves me right for over-doing the Parkrun yesterday when I wasn't 100% anyway.

Way too tired for a cool down. Fell asleep when I got home. Tells a story.

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Eliofeel Trail

Warm up before Drumchapel Parkrun.

Running race 21:19 [5] 3.1 mi (6:53 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Eliofeel Trail

Drumchapel Parkrun. Mrs P has decided to enter the Falkland 10k Trail Race incorporating the Scottish Trail Running Champs so decided she needed to get some hilly trail running in, so we headed over to Drumchapel cos it's very hilly and on trails.

The course was an alternative course due to a wasps nest at the finish - basically the course had been extended by moving the finish some 100m further along the path.

As I'm running in the Paisley 10k tomorrow, my right heal was sore and I've got a head cold, the plan was to have a steady run, but this was abandoned 50m after the start when I found myself in the lead but had a youngster on my heals. Pushed it as hard as I dared but kept trying to save something for tomorrow. I got a gap on the youngster on the up-hills but he caught me down-hills. Needless to say he went past me 200m from the finish and sprinted away. I suddenly remembered tomorrow and let him go.

Somehow got a pb by 13 seconds in spite of everything! Not sure how that happened.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Eliofeel Trail

Easy cool down jog. Legs shot and lots of coughing and sneezing. Tomorrow won't be pretty!

Friday Aug 16 #

1 PM

Running 27:00 [3] 3.3 mi (8:11 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Lunchtime run from work. The locals have opened up the new fences blocking off the path beside the River Leven so I headed up that way for a nostalgic run up to the Lomondgate SUDs Pond, a couple of laps and back.

Had to take it easy cos I felt fairly rough with a sair heid and a slight head cold. Oh joy!

Usual warm up before intervals.

Running intervals 15:30 [5] 2.0 mi (7:45 / mi)

Track session with the athletic club at Linwood track. As we're all running in the Paisley 10k on Sunday we decided to do 10 x 300m (1min easy jog recovery).

I felt really shite today after a very stressful day at work and was running accordingly (breathing terrible and legs like two blocks of wood) so only managed 8.

Hopefully will feel better on Sunday or I'm in big trouble!
