Sunday Nov 10 #

1 PM

Running 1:05:00 [3] 7.2 mi (9:02 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Steady run from the house over to Houston House Woods, laps of the trails and fields and back. Breathing not good.

Had a look at the results from yesterday's Short Distance XC Champs. I ran the course two years ago and my time from then would have placed me 3rd M60 yesterday. Not in the same shape this year as then, and you've got to be in it to win it.....

Saturday Nov 9 #

9 AM

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch SS18

Warm up before Linwood Parkrun.

Running race 19:24 [5] 3.1 mi (6:15 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch SS18

Linwood Parkrun on a bitterly cold morning with a few patches of ice on the course. Had entered the Scottish Short Distance Cross Country Championships today but am not well or fit enough at the moment to do it justice so decided against it.

Ran okay but lacking pace but a lot faster than 2 weeks ago's debacle. Nose still streaming with snot.

Running warm up/down 14:00 [3] 1.5 mi (9:20 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch SS18

Easy cool down lap with Mrs P!

Friday Nov 8 #

12 PM

Running 42:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:24 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Lunchtime run from work. Headed through Dumbarton to Garshake then to Crosslet Estate and did three laps of the wonderful, hilly muddy trail in the wood, then back to the depot.

Starting to feel a bit better but nose still running and throat sore. Made another appointment to see the doctor.

12 PM

Running 25:00 [3] 3.2 mi (7:49 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Working at Whinney Hill today so went for a run there. Legs fairly dead, throat sore and felt rough.

Monday Nov 4 #

7 PM

Running warm up/down 12:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks GTS 17

Warm up before intervals with the athletic club.

Running intervals 44:00 [5] 5.7 mi (7:43 / mi)
shoes: Brooks GTS 17

Intervals with the athletic club on the trails on Linwood Moss. Session was 15 x 2mins (1min easy jog recovery). Felt a bit better today but only did 10 of the reps fast as I might be able to race on Saturday.

Appointment with the doctor today. He thinks the problem is that the cold I've had has affected my asthma and made it worse. I've now got an additional inhaler which made the difference but breathing better but still not great.

I'm always aware that I've been told by doctors and asthma specialists from when I was young that my breathing would deteriorate and I would eventually have to give up competitive running. I suspect I'm getting closer to that now which is hard.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: Brooks GTS 17

Cool down run back to the sports centre.
