Sunday Feb 2 #

1 PM

Running 1:06:00 [3] 8.4 mi (7:51 / mi)
shoes: Brooks GTS 17

Decided to go for a road run today to see if that helped my hamstrings. Did a run round the perimeter of the village on the roads and paths.

A real struggle again with absolutely nothing in the tank. I think I'm still not well and it's going to take a long time for me to get better. My right hamstring is a lot better and the left one is a bit better but my back / shoulder is still really sore.

9 AM

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 1.8 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Eliofeel Trail

Warm up before Parkrun.

Running race 21:38 [5] 3.1 mi (6:59 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Eliofeel Trail

Amelia decided we were going to Drumpellier Parkrun today so we did. Happy with this as I was looking for a Parkrun which I hadn't been to before and no-one knew me so I could run at a steady pace without the usual mad race at Linwood Parkrun with others out to try and beat me.

The weather awful, very windy and heavy rain, and the trails were very soft and covered in large puddles. I ran in a world of pain as my back / shoulder was really sore and my hamstrings were tight, especially the left one, but not as bad as running through the usual muddy conditions that I run in.

Also struggled as I'm still no where near back to fitness / health yet so I ran an embarrassingly slow time.

Running warm up/down 7:00 [3] 0.7 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Eliofeel Trail

Shortened cool down run - at least the rain had gone off.

Friday Jan 31 #

4 PM

Running 43:00 [3] 4.1 mi (10:29 / mi)
shoes: Kalengi Kiprun SD

Run from the house after work on the trails in the woods round the Oilfields and Craigends. A real slog in the wind, heavy rain, mud and floods.

Back really sore and left hamstring extremely unhappy. The hamstring seems fine when I stretch it so I think it's pulling my leg out of the mud all the time that's making it sore.

Can't say I enjoyed this one!

Thursday Jan 30 #

12 PM

Running 50:00 [3] 5.7 mi (8:46 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Run from work at lunchtime up the side of the River Leven and a lap of the paths in the woods round Strathleven Industrial Estate in the wind and rain. Most of the paths are a sea of mud now making things hard work.

Really struggled round this and my hamstrings were really sore again. I had to stretch them again. Also pulled a muscle in my back just below my left shoulder blade when I slipped in the mud. Oh well.

Wednesday Jan 29 #

7 PM

Running 12:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks GTS 17

Run round the Run the Park After Dark putting out the markers.

Running tempo 23:38 [4] 3.1 mi (7:37 / mi)
shoes: Brooks GTS 17

Run the Park After Dark with the '24 minute boys' who are getting faster, especially when you consider the very wet and windy conditions. I couldn't have gone much faster. Hamstrings really tight and sore and still not feeling great.

Running 13:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:40 / mi)
shoes: Brooks GTS 17

Weary plod round the course brining in the markers.

Had to stretch my hamstrings when I got home. Painful!

Tuesday Jan 28 #

12 PM

Running 26:00 [3] 3.2 mi (8:07 / mi)
shoes: Kelengi Kiprun Trail XT7

Felt well enough to attempt a run today! It was slow and painful, my breathing was terrible and my hamstrings were very tight but I did it. A long way to go to get back to where I was pre-illness.

Ran from work up to the Lomondgate SUDs Pond, a couple of laps and back.
