Compass Sport Trophy Tankersley.
Strapped up right ankle as much as I could and jogged to start with no expectations. Arrived with seconds to spare.
Headed in vague direction of #1 and found top of hill but could not see anymore detail to find control.
Clive H turned up and I followed him into #1. Followed him on to #6 where I lost him on way to road crossing. Felt I could have hung on for another 10-20 mins as I was not flat out and he was not super clean.
Race over for me. Ran on anyway as it is a team event and I had to finish. Still struggling to see any detail in circle. Used control description to know whether it was pit or reentrant and headed in hoping for the best. This eyesight business is getting beyond a joke now.
Always slow into circle, but not losing the route between circles.
On way to 26 decided I have had enough of struggling to see the map and will stick to urban from now on. No more forest for me. Resigned myself to a crap result and jogged in down run in. Shocked to see print-out showing me 4th and only 9 secs down on Charlie.
Just lucky I suppose. No errors of more than 30 secs and not many of those. Everyone had scrappy runs I guess.
Ankle ok, but really sore now. Hope it heals quick for OMM will certainly test it!

Trying specs on a green course.
Turned ankle on a rock and had to walk back. Ouch.
Not ideal preparation for CST Final tomorrow or OMM in two weeks!

From top of hill to Crowden and back along Holme Moss Fell Race route. 1:27:30 at turn around. Tooleyshaw Moss hills in 10:00 and 8:20.
All OK apart from ankles becoming very painful after 2 hours.
