South Yorkshire League XC 2 at Kiverton - 9th.

Better turnout for this one with some more of the good guys here, inc. OJ and Dane. Little bit tired from the last week and legs a touch heavy but generally looking forward to it, not really muddy and some hard packed sections made me opt for x-talons not spikes. Much more tactical, but also more aggressive, sitting in on the first lap but higher than I normally would have done then began winding it up through the second, taking a few places. The hill was always a grind but after the first I knew you just had to get it out of the way and worked well over it. Finished strongly but couldn't quite close the gap to 7th, still happy with a top 10. Felt quite strong today and was a much more encouraging run than the last one. Good performances from the other boys made it a good day.

Solo morning run, dark throughout so headtorch. Standard Rivelin up to the top of Coppice then cut over Crookes and dropped in to Porter for an up and down before meandering home. Legs felt mostly good but began tiring at the end.

Tim's Great Urban Fell Race.
Hadn't looked at routes enough before but settled in with Matt and Josh Williams taking Bole Hills first. Moving really well up Springvale, felt like a breeze. Sat in the group down through Walkley but lost contact a little before crossing the bridge. No matter, then moved up the cemetary fine, dropping Matt in the process as he was suffering a touch from intervals last night, then on to the road towards Winco. Cut through I thought was on map wasn't there and stomach didn't feel great for a couple of k so had a toilet stop, which Josh waited for as I was the one navigating. Nav was crap following not getting my cut through and popped up way from where I wanted. Including the bog stop I probably dropped around 6 minutes or so which was annoying. Got the control then dropping down was sketchy in the woods and began the grind up to the ski slope. Started seeing others inc. Cat and Kim which made the going a bit easier as a target to chase and felt ok getting to the top. The drop was brutal and from the ring road back to Tims my legs had had enough so crawled back whilst also making a few small mistakes. Nav wasn't great tonight but happy to have maintained a good pace throughout, average hovering just over 4min k's. Nice session and definitely one to do again.

No intervals today, jumped in on the triathlon short run with James and just eased the legs out. Spin out on the new wheels too, very nice.
