BUCS XC B Race - 79th.

Didn't pan out today. Felt a little sluggish warming up but thought this would shift once the race began, maybe was just some jitters. Start was brutal, so many people and was boxed in from the gun, took a stumble as well landing on my finger and losing my stride but carried on and didn't think about it until the 2nd lap when I tried to bend the finger and it wouldn't move. First half of the first lap was just a battle, trying to move through the banter starters but settled in with Sasha and we moved up reasonably quickly. Felt pretty good in the woods at the bottom but as soon as we hit the first hill the sluggish feeling returned and I was blowing quite hard from the start. Got to the top and tried to push on but it just wouldn't happen. Struggled around to the start of the second and thought the gradual descent would allow some life to return to my race but I just felt continuously tired and also began to feel disinterested in racing. Treading water round the second lap just trying to cling on whilst I saw the guys easing away ahead. The last lap was damage limitation , no drive and just wanted it to finish, lost places all the way to the line.
Not sure what happened today, felt a bit tired all week maybe because of exams but I basically had no drive and legs felt like lead. Pretty annoying but I'm training well so I think this was just an off week. Frustrating result.

Note
(rest day)

Full rest day, has been coming, last proper one was christmas eve. Felt a touch tired this week on runs so it comes at a perfect time before BUCs tomorrow which should be good fun.

Sprintervals around Waitrose area. Not pushing too hard and trying to focus on the navigation. Nice cruisy pace but still missing on a couple, only 1 big slip up but other than that was moving smoothly.

Nice long out out with Adam and Matt after finishing exams. Felt OK but a bit tired, think I need to start building some more rest in, HR a bit high so I'll play it a bit safer, rest tomorrow or Friday.

Running intervals 40:00 [4] 8.54 km (4:41 / km) +126m 4:22 / km
ahr:159 max:184 shoes: Adidas Distancestar

Intervals down at Endcliffe. Horribly boggy and even with 12's in my spikes I was still sliding. Tussling with whether to do this, feel quite drained from revising but think it helped clear my head but was a little flat. On my own from the get go with Paddy suffering with short spikes before hitting the tarmac. Session was 4x(3x90[30]), 4 mins between sets. Walked the 30s and easy jog on the 4's.
Splits:
439, 434, 441, 429, 446, 418, 439, 434, 441, 436, 453, 414
Not too bad in the mud, just nice to get out.
