BUCS Relay, 2nd team with Barbie and Potter.

Went out a little down and having chatted with Potter we decided we'd have to go pretty much all or nothing. Set off hard, knew there'd be teams to move through but focused well and nailed my gaffles and some of the tricky bearings throguh to the long leg. Went straight on it which I'm convinced was the quickest route if done right and caught Jamie who I'd seen leaving 5 as I went in. Moved with him well down the path routes through to 10 then got ahead of him on the track to 11 and 12 which were fine. Only real mistake was on 13, poor bearing out and ended up too far left, have to check splits but it felt sizeable maybe because of the pace. Hesitant after to 14 having not really made a plan but settled in after to move through Jamie again before spectator. Think I'd gone through the teams that were a realistic target by this time, but was quit scrappy through the last loop, losing pockets of time in a lot of the circles on 19, maybe 20, 22 and 23 because the sticker was stuck over my control so had to waste time unpicking it despite being literally on the control. Then tried to push on to the finish. Made up a lot of places which was nice and felt strong and fast but maybe could have wound in the pace a touch at the end of legs. Stuck to the plan well though and the risky O paid off, always going to be some timeloss when attempting to run how me and Adam were. Good area and a cracking race.

BUCS A Race, 11th.

Looking forward to racing an orienteering course a bit more this weekend. Felt good before, legs feeling decent and no pressure meant I was settled. Moved well through the first section and was fine until the routechoice to number 7, which looking at it now I must have lost time going high first then back down, have to see splits but was significant I think. Caught Tim at 7 though which was a nice boost and meant keeping motivated with the running speed was made easier. Lost more time on 10/11 maybe a min on each, poor lines and hesitant, slightly unsure on what I was hitting. Moved well through the controls on to the moor then had a bit of a burn up with Timmy which was great, really winding it up at times. Small slip near the end on 23, no bearing out of the control and so lost some time. Then grind up the hill to the last bit and finish. Having not really trained for the long stuff this year, this was a nice surprise to feel fairly good and navigate largely well. Could have done with a bit more planning ahead but I think that was partly due to the area in that you had to watch your feet and fight a touch. Result a little frustrating as losing time on a couple without really realising it pushed me down a touch from where I should be but it was a positive run nonetheless.

Fun afternoon playing out on Bleaklow with the boys. Kept it easy but was awesome, best way to run away from essay problems.

Kept it reasonably light with the weekend in mind, not for BUCS but don't want to overdo it for the week after. More focus on form.

Nice chilled out training on Blacka Moor. Gorgeous day but tough to move through some of the crap. One slip but the map wasn't great and general nav was good.

Fat Cat Urban. Reasonable run out, never felt like I was pushing the pace which was nice to be moving well without too much effort. Missed a couple of routes and a couple of errors in the circle put me 20s~ down on Potter but enjoyed it.
