Orienteering 31:59 [5] 6.26 km (5:07 / km) +161m 4:32 / km
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas 4 RB9X

BUCS Relay leg 1.
Weird one, normally the bucs relay is full of excitement but this was weirdly subdued. Perhaps because of the strange atmosphere or maybe because I've just got a lot on other than orienteering at the moment, I didn't feel settled or focused at all leading to rushing off to 1 and losing an annoying amount of time. Decided to try and take charge after this and pushed the pace to try and get back to the others who had hit theirs clean. Worked well and was leading the pack until 8 where a poor route and missing my gaffle let most get away. From here I was frustrated and flustered so ran too hard leading to more mistakes. Better after spectator having closed Tim down but handed over feeling annoyed and disappointed with how I ran, too rash and just tactically very poor for 1st leg. Good work by Sam and Nic to get us back to 4th but it could have been so much more.
On a side note, I would have to argue that it was pretty unfair sticking a guest runner on the same gaffles as competitive teams as it definitely influenced the result in my opinion. I know this may just seem petty but when a non-comp runner inadvertently assists those in a race, I don't think this is right.

Running 40:47 intensity: (2:33 @1) + (22:57 @2) + (6:47 @3) + (8:03 @4) + (27 @5) 10.09 km (4:03 / km) +157m 3:45 / km
ahr:153 max:186 shoes: Salming Distance D1

Trot up to Forge Dam and back in the pissing rain. Garmin/HR went wrong and messed up the distance and HR but felt alright other than any climbs, few strides chucked in, ready for the weekend.

(rest day)

Planned rest pre bucs and works well with travelling home and after varsity.

Nice easy Forge Dam with Joe and Dane, good to run together for once! Body feeling suitably beaten after yesterday so taking it easy and will reign it in now before the weekend.

Running hills 1:32:23 intensity: (24:05 @1) + (27:33 @2) + (19:50 @3) + (17:59 @4) + (2:56 @5) 15.03 km (6:09 / km) +1005m 4:36 / km
ahr:150 max:183 shoes: Inov-8 x-talon 212 (s17)

Good session on Win Hill with the boys, 4x bottom to top then a rep up the dam. Working well with Max, taking most of the lead. Rainy, claggy and cold but loved it. Felt good on the steady climbs but had to work hard on the steep stuff. Great session.

Running 30:00 intensity: (3:02 @1) + (14:52 @2) + (8:15 @3) + (3:51 @4) 7.04 km (4:16 / km) +113m 3:57 / km

HR a little higher than expected but went further up the hill and didn't feel 100%still so probably makes sense. Bumped in to Sarah Potter for some company.

Running 1:07:59 intensity: (13:21 @1) + (33:16 @2) + (16:21 @3) + (5:01 @4) 14.31 km (4:45 / km) +323m 4:16 / km

Much more awake this afternoon. Nice Porter summit with Max in the sun, been a while since I've ran this.

ahr:163 max:177 shoes: Salming Distance D1

Debut loop of legends with Dane. Plan was 70 but felt horrendous approaching the hour so cut it short. Legs tired and body felt ill so no point flogging a dead horse. Another good week some though, will probably wind it in a touch before BUCS
