Burbage Skyline - 1st
Debated putting this as a 4 but effort wise it will have been right up there. Fully debated not running this at all, struggling to even walk the last couple of days and legs have felt shot to bits since Sunday, but I'd entered and it was a nice evening so what you gonna do. Settled in early behind Joe, Alex and Saville, just letting them dictate the climb but even at the relatively easy pace my body was groaning. Hit the skyline and decided the flat was as good a place as any for me to try and push because it hurt the least. Skimmed nicely over the rocks with the intention of essentially banking time against the others before expecting them to catch me later. Off the top of the stream and over to Higger I just tapped it out and knew if I could keep moving they couldn't put too much in to me. Felt better letting loose on the descent but took a bit of a crappy line. Steep Higger climb I got more from walking then intended on really pushing the flat between there and the Nick but had to stop for 10s or so and let the others catch up to find directions! Got away but this happened again at the top of the next climb so had to try and crush the descents. One more hesitation for direction on Carl Walk then it was just about keeping shifting, despite a big fall in the bog, and not letting the others have a sniff on the final climb after the stream crossing. Held out for the win by around 30s.
Really fun new route and surprised to have won tonight. Legs never felt good but felt strong mentally to just keep grinding away, especially nice having had to stop so much!

Lots of trying to wake the legs up, not much luck.
