Turner Landscape English Champs race - 4th (1st u23)
Haven't raced for a while and not on the fells for even longer so it was nice to go in to it with no pressure. Steady start and worked my way through on the first climb but felt pretty ruined at the top so expected to start dropping places. The opposite happened and I felt great coming off it and managed to get on the back of the Carl train going up Swirl Howe. Worked my way through this and summited ahead of them then set about chasing down Mark on the way to Coniston. Nice bit of feedback coming up to Coniston seeing Chris and Si coming off maybe 30s up. Good descent and then ran with the 3 Keswick guys from there to White Pike as Carl began to pull away. Dropped well from there to the finish, taking Dan, Si and Mark but got binned on a sprint finish in the last 100m to just miss out on 3rd and only 35s off 1st.
Not quite sure where this race came from, I've been training well but wouldn't have hoped to have been up racing with these guys! Really pleased with how this went and I think it's undoubtedly my best running result to date. Other than the first climb I felt strong and was actually racing not just running which made it really fun. Massive confidence boost and hopefully something to build on.

Hours fartlek over the fields. Another scorcher, tough work. All fine but the last bit was a bit stop start as the footpaths deteriorated, shame because I was enjoying it before then. Shifting better today, feeling more normal and nice to get the legs turning, hopefully saturday feels the same!
