Unable to train because of a mammoth blister on my heal, no way to cross train and not sensible to try after hobbling round work. Very frustrating but a bit of an easier week after some intense racing weeks won't be too bad. 2 days off in a week is no fun though.

Latrigg FR - 2nd.

Nice evening for it and a good turnout which was good for pushing each other. Settled at the start and tried not to get too strung out with Lamby and John, then closed on them as we hit the steep bit, moving reasonably strongly. Good pack of 5 at the top but had maybe lost just a little contact, recovering as it levelled rather than pushing but this let me drop well. 5th to 2nd by the bottom then managed to stay ahead of Rhys and John at the end with Lamby a bit ahead.
Another step in the right direction, moving strongly and descending well. Again, it's just that flat speed at the start and end which lost me a bit, but it'll come. Good fun evening.

Inter-Counties FR 14th, 2nd u23.

Nervous and excited for this one. Have felt reasonably fit in recent weeks but this was the first real test of fitness against a properly stacked field. Made sure not to go too hard on the climb, lot of folk blowing up and was able to move up nicely (did get a bit caught in some bottlenecks though). Hit the flatter sections off the top and worked hard, moving up but not getting much in terms of raw speed. Descending ok but they were too runnable so was getting a lot of my time on the climbs today which is positive. Closing on Timmy through the last section but couldn't quite get to him when it got fast again. Cool to be in the mix and felt strong, as good a result as I could have hoped for and got ahead of a few fast lads which was nice. As I kinda thought before, need to get that turnover going with some proper fast work but quite pleased with where I'm at after a lay-off. Nice point to be building from for the season.
