Longshaw Sheepdog Trials FR - 1st (new CR)

Popped in to this on the way to driving home from sheff. Set out purposefully with Ben and got a gap up the first climb. Pressed the advantage on the flat with him and then led down to the valley floor. Led all of the climb as well then tried to break away over higger and on the long descent. Worked well but then didn't climb that well up Owler so Ben came back. Still led all the way back down surprise view and back to the arena field. Ben came up on my shoulder with 200m to go and asked what we would do and I was happy to finish together as we'd had a good race! Crossed at the same time but I was given it on the photo finish! Cool to win my first one back in the Peaks and get a course record! Beat Ben's on the new Course from last year but also Lloyds from the old course. Not sure how similar they are but a good showing nonetheless given how I've felt tired this week.

Went out to reccy Grisedale on my way to moving home. Some of the worst weather I've ran in, if it wasn't my last day wouldn't have gone high. Ok up to Helvellyn, then somehow did a 180 despite running with my map out. Rain, wind, clag down to the valley meant there was little else to be gained so came down the same way but tried to find a different way up the first climb. Also, left my shoes in the carpark, btu a kind lady has found them so can still run in them next weekend, I like fell runners.

Last day at work so did the Hostel Challenge to the top of Latrigg from the door (13:09). The looped around in the woods. Enjoyed it.

Grasmere Senior Guides - 5th

Awesome race, wanted to run it for years and so happy to have done so. Just tried to keep pushing all the way, felt a bit tired and sluggish on the climb but really pleased with my descent, gained 4 places, would have been 5 if Will didn't have such a good kick! Great fun. Wandered up Helm Crag with the family before which I wouldn't before a major race but don't think it'd make the biggest difference.
Tore all the skin off my left heel, second time this had happened in Walsh's which isn't ideal. Will be a few days before I run again but I had planned to ease up a lot before Grisedale a week on Saturday so maybe not the worst thing. Happy with the consistency over the last few months.
