Orienteering race 1:03:11 [5] 11.8 km (5:21 / km) +145m 5:03 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265 Blue

Knackered from wedding gig til midnight the night before, but this is the life I choose so I am not moaning.

Malvern HOC long course (Brown), Castlemorton Common. 10km, 145m, 24 controls. 1:7500 map threw me! i'd changed my scale back to 1:10000! Steady to no 1 then steady most of the way - 45 secs at no 4 (stuck in fight), hesitant at 6 (45 seconds), and a silly banana at 13 (1 minute) - but terrain easy, map good, controls highly visible (unlike , say.. oooh - GODSHILL?).

Legs felt quite dead & heavy, probably from combination of flat out urban yesterday & the late gig humping gear around til midnight. No bounce, but stuck to it & put in a spurt to overtake Lesley R. (Undy's sis) 2 from the end.

knee survived the gorse - I fell once, but soft ground is fine compared to gravel!

Mark B. had a very impressive run there, I could not really have beaten his time, and I am happy with 2nd place. I won 9 splits too, including a lot later on, showing I'm reasonably fit for the time of year.
63 mins for 10km sounds good, but this area was easy, mostly open, very visible and controls easy to spot. only a couple of really notable hills, too.

need an ANT stick for my garmin as I've lost mine. Ebay?
