Orienteering race (Urban) 28:50 [5] 5.91 km (4:53 / km) +50m 4:41 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 10
UsynligO Oldland sprint , 4.1km, 30 controls.
Nice & fun. Hot day - vest & shorts.
leaving 4 - no path to wood - aborted. 20-30 secs? also - no 5 - nettles all around - tip toed in and got stung; luckily the song started quickly......
No 8 - crap printing so not sure if i could get thru - could not - 15-20 secs?
no 30 - missed alley & went into close - 20 secs?
28:41 "officially" - not too much jogging around waiting for phone to "sing the song".

Orienteering race 30:26 [4] 3.26 km (9:20 / km) +42m 8:46 / km
shoes: Innovate Terraclaws
UsynligO Hanham river valley - Long sprint - 4.1km, 30 controls. 30mins
Was in for a shock here! luckily I put on long O bums. DO NOT WEAR TRAINERS FOR THIS RACE.
no 5 - wrong route into field - then agony getting across to path- then couldn't find a way in! 2 mins total? (nearly bagged the control site off - undergrowth vile).
Super fast tech and detailed stuff at 1:4k which felt outrageous - for some reason i remembered Old Windmill Hill here. Pretty certain I did not visit all control sites as I just started the next leg whenever I heard the Song Singing from my bum bag.
no 8 - saw crag - OMG! somehow got down but exited as soon as i registered.
no 23 - left control due south - again, in peril in steep undergrowth, brambles etc - yelping in pain & distress.
Hoped to break 30 mins, but stymied by a picnic at no 29 - two dogs, one attacked - at the tree which was the control. I had to stand there like an IDIOT whilst the dog "attacked", the owners shouted, and I couldnt' leave until the Song started Singing. .....
