Another HR monitoring run - pulse was super low for 1st 1km or so (uphill! Come off it!); then straight from zone 2 to zone 4 ,and, even tho I never pushed it, it edged up to zone 5 & basically stayed there.
By km 8 i was mainly shuffling along with my mouth shut at 4:50 pace. Sigh.
I do need to actually buy a chest strap.
Quick walk back showed HR plummet in first 2 minutes, so any serious heart issue i would hope is not happening.
I do enjoy a) fast running b) pushing it c) impressing myself with fast splits / segments & kms, and d) I enjoy the "no pain no gain" mentality - I like to hurt when I'm fit. Sadly, if this means some runs are wayyyy over 175bpm for 90% of the runs / time trials, I am possibly over-straining. And that's not good for me. How old am I .......?
