Running race (fun run) 19:20 [5] 5.0 km (3:52 / km) +47m 3:42 / km
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch 6

Victoria park fun run

last did it in 2013, when I won with the inaugural course record of 20:15 (jogged 1st lap), which fell last year (20:03).

3 1 mile laps of viccy park with a total brute of a hill near the end of each lap (but then downhill to complete lap).

the "kids" sprinted off fast, but I was taking this "fun run" proper seriously so made a commanding move to oust them all & take a decent lead after < 500m, & noticed that the high quality field of serious male club racers was unable to go with my blistering pace (Garmin said 3:34 pace).

At 1km, it said 3:41, yeah ok maybe I am being exuberant..... group behind fracturing & one guy - Tim White - closing on me, and tho I held the lead up the foul hill, he was on me by 1 lap (6:12) - and I was struggling.
Blowing up slightly on 2nd lap, Tim was away, especially on the hill. He was 5 secs up at 2 miles

Lap 3 was all about not dying completely, he was 20 seconds ahead by the last turn, and I was beaten, but we were miles inside the old record, with the record holder on over 20 mins in 3rd.

2nd again. sigh. Pretty poor run and badly misjudged, but a good try-out. And - heh - FUN! (there was also a dog show, which was hilarious - best "waggie tail" etc) - and Liz & Nellie came down to watch / laugh.

KMS: 3:41 (half a hill), 3:52 (half a hill), 4:02 (hill), 3:47 (flatter), 3:52. (hill).
laps 6:16, 6:28; 6:36 (steadily dying).

Note

Climbing trip to Dartmoor - the Dewerstone - excellent day out being photo's for a forthcoming guidebook, only did 3 routes but they were great.

caught a chap falling off an E3, the peg snapped off (never seen that happen before....) but his backup cam held... jeez!!!! #extreme

home 10:45pm, having left at 9:10am. Luckily I didn't drive.

knackered.

Another Angela run.

Leigh woods. Hot - stayed in shade (24.5 degrees). Set off at a fair clip again like last week - both struggling to talk, but trying anyway!!!

Some hill efforts, again I slaughtered her on them, but again, on the flat, she was right there.

As she'd only been discharged from hospital 36 hrs before (fainting / collapse / pulse of 30), it was a bit touch & go really! She lived.

Luckily, apparently so did I. More house hunting 'mares today. I officially hate "MakeUrMove.co.uk". F**k off!

Note
(rest day)

Still too tired.

cycled to town, & did some S&C derisory stuff at home, as I dont' seem to be doing the gym anymore.

Still watching Olympics on iplayer. Life could be worse.

House move hassles - turned down for two places I liked :-(

Note
(rest day)

More tired than I'd thought I'd be. Hmmm.

Started packing stuff up to move out of my house. Depressing, when you think how much work I put in moving it all IN here, 18 months ago.

Win some, lose some.

Running 45:30 [4] 6.0 mi (7:35 / mi) +100m 7:13 / mi
shoes: Saucony Guide 7

"Steady" run up Malago, then across to Knowle west & back down the hills.

Felt OK for 20 mins even bouncy, then suffering started & by 35 mins I had had enough really.

Some way to go , then, but a lot better than Wells 8 days ago & Tyntesfield 5 days ago, so going in right direction. Still very sweaty.

Note

Sport climbing in Wye valley, woodcraft quarry, Wintours leap.

8 routes, with Steve Wright, great day, sunny, felt very light (good) and piss weak (less good). Not too flexible but I got away with it.

grades from 5c - 6a+ . All flashed.
