Cycle to & from Southmead hospital, part out of necessity, (rush hour, anyone? ), part to get on bike to do something outdoory, & also, due to bad back today (FFS!), some relief.
Vile. But better than driving, & over 80 mins of exercise, so I guess I take it.

So I finally get to go to a Diabetic clinic to see what is going on with my “atypical” case of “Type “2” “Diabetes”. (Most cases are fat bloaters with poor diets who eat junk & sugary fizz & do not exercise. Sound like the opposite of someone you know? Indeed).
Me to Diabetic specialist doctor: I don’t seem to fit the Type 2 mould.
Her: No, you don’t. (we go through a few things). Her: You are not – not! – a Type 2 diabetic.
Me: Thanks. Didn’t think so. I’ve been waiting nearly 3 years to hear that.
Her: We need to get you tested for Type 1 – it’s a marker in the blood!
Me: I had loads of blood tests done last month, was it in those?
Her: No.
Me: Are you sure?
Her: Yes, they only tested you for regular stuff, and you’re completely well & normal!
Me: But surely, they’d test for it?
Her: Let’s check…. Ah…. Urm…. Yes! You were tested! Oh! It says….. you’re not …. Not Type 1 either.
Me: So what am I?
Her (and another medic in the room)(. We have no idea.
I GIVE UP.
Next thing I know I’m pissing into a pot and sitting there with a needle in my vein again. 4 months til next “specialist” appointment……
Anyone fancy a Mars Bar? I DO.
