BOK level C Leigh woods - Blue.
Hilarious start (not really) as soon as I got there I was entrenched in moving cars & a VW van out of the mud at the side of the road. Geoff Ellis turned up in his Range rover & got his tow ropes out. It was all rather fraught, and the woman's VW bumped a boulder, and I thought, please can I go run?
Blue, 5km, 215m . OMG Leigh woods in mud & slippery slopes. Unfit / "injured", so only Blue (a Brown was wayyy too far - Clive retired....).
I asked Chris at the start to pick me a Blue map, and I sprinted off with it. Sadly he'd actually given me a Brown. So I got to Brown no 1 (which was in wrong place, so I coudlnt' find it) , with the wrong code (my desc's on my wrist were for Blue). Lost a fair few minutes; found it in wrong depression, realised I had Brown map, and bagged it off. Jogged back to the start.
Here's the debacle that my 2017 started with:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1514686... - FFS!!!
This along with ridiculous prior knowledge of area, meant I was non comp from here at my own insistence.
Vile run - unfit, massive hangover, allergic from catty night, sleep deprived, muddy, no 6 map was wrong place (too low - spur not niche, Mark!) - caught Teresa Maria Rush here. Had to focus to drop her as she's no slouch. Mind you, she's very visually appealing, so maybe I should have stuck around a bit?
Staggering round last part of course still making sloppy errors, and running soooo slowly, what an old crock, unfit, LH hamstring hurting too much but not horrendous. Think I got route to no 14 right as I won that over Owain. Mind you Owain would have barely been jogging.
47 mins, and "won", but non comped myself at Download (no 1 was via Brown's no 1, so only right).
Grim.
