Orienteering race 1:00:21 [5] 8.6 km (7:01 / km) +279m 6:02 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265 Blue

SARUM Saunter, level B, short Brown, 7.7km 245m, Fonthill

Was last here 4 years ago, god where does time go? Mark3 & I both won the SW Middle champs that day - me in M45 my final year in that class.

Was up for this. Very muddy. Not bad:

Hamstring pain - not bad, but not good either and not as good as I'd hoped.
Nav - not bad. See below.
Fitness - not bad, but no zip - not surprisingly. Muddy made it energy sapping!

Miss at no 9 - failed to aim off well, was too far west, 1min 10 (says Strava!) ARGH, come on!

no 10 - turned south too early - nothing matching - 30secs ("passed" by Colin Dickson who was shouting in agony from time to time)

13 overshot slightly (unmapped shallow ditch?) - 20 secs - trying to shake Colin off. Blasted 14 and shook him off.

20 -stopped too soon - brambly - unsure - 20 secs.

21 - stupid - tired - ended up too far west & climbed THREE contours too high - 1:30.

Some legs i was 100% pleased with my execution - not bad at all!

Roger Thetford lost 5 mins as forgot to punch road crossing.

Note
(rest day)

Massive curry last night. And lagers.

NO chance of running today - beached bloated whales do not runners make.

Running 40:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:00 / km) +56m 4:50 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 5

Steady run. multi terrain; wet off tarmac & slippery in worn out trainers.

hamstring pain acceptable. Felt v unfit. And quite achey.

Recovered very quickly. just need to do more steady runs to get back "into" it (whatever "it" is - no idea anymore).

Note
(injured) (rest day)

(Finger & shoulder still giving plenty of jip - yawn)

Saw a new house, just round corner from the other one from Tuesday. Vastly better.

Offer of £248k cash accepted with minimal fuss.

The other one was ridiculous. Vastly too much work to do – huge expense, mucho hassle. This one – maybe put a conservatory on the back, in due course, but OK to go. Bathroom perfectly fine. House is just 1ft “deeper” – made all the difference.

Pond full of fish & spawn. Lockable storage units at back of garden, too.

Note
(rest day)

Yesterday pm & late pm, back became unstable again, & i was back to SHOUTING IN AGONY (Tim Tett witnessed this when he stayed 3 weeks ago - it's quite alarming - I have no choice i just start SHOUTING - very nearly happened in a shop).

Woke this morning with LH buttock & hip in considerable pain / borderline agony again. On ibuprofen again, and really getting down.

I'd already decided on a rest period; this is getting beyond ridiculous now.

Obviously, i'm not "injured", am i? so despite daily pain I'll just sit here & pretend i'm fine, yeah? Ok, cool. Whatever.

Note
(rest day)

Offer accepted on this house. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

it's near the airport bus route (ideal - close to getting out of the city too), semi detached with parking for 2 cars (ideal), relatively cheap (got it for asking price) (others spiralled up to > £260k....), great south-east facing garden, & nearer my usual haunts in BS3 than where I am now.

... on the -ve side, bathroom is terrible (will have to move it); downstairs is not big enough; would have to extend & make another room, which would be £25k I would expect.

Liz viewed it with me, and I'm awaiting her verdict. I would have no mortgage - and i'd be back on the property ladder again - I'm currently slinging away £850 per month on a very comfortable house that is bigger inside than this one.... & in the wrong area....
7 PM

Yoga 1:20:00 [4]

First time to Yoga with Bob - used to go 2003 - 2005 then lapsed. Beginners class. Lynne took me there.

This is a very good idea; £10 well spent - will try to go every tuesday evening....
The alternative was a fast 5km road race. Very glad i did the sensible thing.

Running 45:00 [4] 8.8 km (5:07 / km) +100m 4:50 / km
shoes: Saucony Guide 7

Steady run on a cold Monday morning . Hamstring pain acceptable. Not running well though. Felt better than last Tuesday

http://www.mapometer.com/running/route_4489812.htm...

Note: Osteopath later (Rupert, not Lisa - he's the climber one) - for shoulder, but also re. back, and finger (still painful), and asked about hamstrings. given exercises for shoulders - I have "slight tendonopathy" of my RH "supraspinatus" & possible minor impingement of it. Nothing serious. Yet.

Aggravated, as unstable due to total lack of both pectoral muscles on that side. I've known that for 52 years.....
