Orienteering race 38:59 [4] 8.19 km (4:46 / km) +156m 4:21 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

BOK Urban, Dursley/Cam, Blue 6km-ish

Had agreed to shadow Jim Bailey as he's too fast for Scott now.

But i was beaten up from yesterday's run ; and Jim started very fast.

Hanging on for grim death (kilometre no 3 was a ludicrous 4:12), until about 30 mins in when sadly my LH calf (the one I tore 2 months ago) started complaining, and I got stabbing pains. every minute or so.

So I had to back off (I did NOT do all the course!), which was disappointing, and Jim & I were reduced to little more than a jog up the final hill

Morale: stop overdoing it on every run and take it easy! Listen to Kimb.

Results: Owain & Adam incredible. http://www.bristolorienteering.org.uk/sites/defaul...

A very very good event - put on by two of the most organised & competent people in BOK - Paul & Alan. I had nothing to do really, at all! Top night.

Running 58:01 [4] 12.01 km (4:50 / km) +179m 4:30 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Hot. Hadn't run for 3 days, oh dear. PLan was steady 12km in 60 mins, so 58 was good, two meaty hills, coping better with them now. So hot afterwards! Feet sore too (hard ground)

Stoke Park/ Pur Down. Stunning spring day.

Note
(rest day)

Was going to go for a 45-60 minute run - but lovely weather, so headed into the grounds of my building with tea & stuff mid afternoon & spent 2 hours getting very sleepy. No chance.

Note

Watched Bristol 10k in the sun, then went to Wye Valley for 7 or 8 sport route climbs in Woodcroft Quarry behind Fly wall. routes up to 6b, mainly around 6a/+ . A fantastic day.

Note

Note: Spent all day doing the Bristol #MillionsMissing protest demo in Queen Square, I played 3 songs on guitar plus did the closing speech, I've been a co-organiser of this for the past 6 weeks, it's been quite full on . Was on radio at 7am, and ITN evening local news bulletin (I was filmed at the demo).

Radio: I'm at 1:12 - 1:17 https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p065j3sf

A singer called Kim joined me for the ME version of "Blowin' in the Wind" - her voice was phenomenal - turns out she is famous & used to be in a big prog rock band until her illness forced her out. She now has a solo career as she (hopefully) recovers from CFS/ME. https://white-star-records.com/artists/kim_seviour

Here we are. What a voice. Shame about the guitarist ;)

A very tiring but extremely worthwhile day, and I am so glad I did all I could. There were many tears on the day. (including mine, though i hid it well). This is more important than getting rich(er).

9 AM

Running race 20:11 [5] 5.01 km (4:02 / km) +62m 3:48 / km
(injured) shoes: Saucony Fastwitch 6

Hip sore but I had promised myself I'd do this, and so i did, (up at 7am to go on radio anyway, so was up).

Decided to try out road racers for first time in over a year.

Eastville Park Parkrun, in my #MissingMiillions t shirt. I had intended to aim for about 21 mins, but 1st km in 3:55 and then next in 3:52 (net downhill) meant i was not going to ease off. First lady (Jessica Bruce - world record holder for the marathon double-buggy http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-41713... ) passed me & I knew i wouldn't be able to respond.

Fairly average running but nothing awful took me to the finish - not even 1st Vet50, & no speed on the last descent - hip sore. Total plodder. Sigh.

22nd, 20:11

I'll take it. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/eastville/results/latest...

Running 48:45 [3] 10.0 km (4:53 / km) +146m 4:33 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Set out to potter along the Frome valley in relaxed style, and that's how it was.

Felt a bit unfit on the hills, but vastly fitter than I deserve to be, even managed a flourish at the end, no bother.

LH hip/SI a bit grim, but its usually worse. Calf scare but nothing happened, and no stiffness, so.....

Booked to see another osteopath next tuesday, for lower back/hip / SI continuous pain.

Legs barely stiff from Urban last night. Weird.
