BOk Tuesday run (for a change) - good choice. Until we crossed road into Tyntesfield, these were roads, tracks & fields i never knew existed, let alone had run on. Nice little group & the opportunity to loop round for slower runners; sociable too. Getting worryingly dark by the end. Head torch next time?

Inner knee a bit iffy, will ice it & see how it goes. Scar tissue?

Easy jog. Thighs felt bomber. (how many metres did i ascend/descend in the Alps?..... 10,000's.)
not sure about inner L knee (from Gower- yep, stll that!)
Good to try out a jog; take it one run at a time & see what happens.
Settling back into my flat, but missing the house i rented before that, more.

Hmmm. Ice on inner knee in evening.

Note

Took 15-16 hours to get back from Germany, arrived at Liz's house 3:00am.

Last month of trip is best forgotten. A recurrence of my ME/CFS -like illness in the Alps following a weakening caused by ???? - eating too many wild bilberries? and old melon? overdoing a run? - led to the end of Liz's hopes in the Alps, (with me), forever. Coping with her massive disappointment is vastly harder for me than my own pathetic suffering over a mere 6 days. (note: after 6 days, you dont' bounce back at 100% with this condition. It's not a mere "illness" - it's an autoimmune response that takes a while to recover fully from; 10 hour days to >3000m are NOT remotely an option).

Final week in the german Frankenjura (rock climbing) had some good moments but Liz is no longer into pitched rock climbing, so was painful trying to get her to join in/ enjoy.

Sadly also the "family reunion" in early August was ...... well, words fail me. Now estranged. No plans to go to Canada again, ever. Just "off the scale".

Trip verdict? Started badly (two knee issues/skin infection all in 1st 10 days), became awesome (a flukey 8th place in last Urban day in Dolomites 5 days), (July/Dolomites/Austria amazing - climbing / Via Ferrata); but August one of the worst months of the century (personal & health reasons).

Next year? Dolomites 5 days then Swiss O week in earlyAugust is the plan.
