Note
(sick)

Possibly one of the worst travel experiences of my long, long life. only spinning around on all fours in a railway toilet in India in 1993 was worse. (front end; back end; front end; back end etc)

Started feeling "peaky" in the afternoon post-O/ lunch. Decided it was "mild sunstroke". By 5pm, was in bed, curled up , embarrassing. Missed the family evening meal.

Got up & "manned up" as Pete took me to airport. Where things went from really bad, to off the scale. Retching on the road. Stomach AGONY. On all fours in the toilet. Crawled to gate. Somehow got on plane. Cabin crew tried to get me off plane. I was moved to another seat. Started getting worse - people moved away from me. Feverish, writhing. Filled a sick bag with puke. This was biblical. I am NEVER sick.

One crew was 1st aid trained, so she was doing Obs, BP, heart rate ("is it normally slow? it's only 54...." Me: "Yes, it's fine". "how far was your race? Have you overdone it? " "This never happens after races" etc etc. They also got concerned re. my "diabetes" ("WHATEVER") & spent ages stabbing my finger but failed to get a reading. (BP was 132/90, so somewhat higher than normal)

Mercifully passed out. Wheeled off plane with some OAPS. Then the diarhhoea started. (in arrivals hall) This was actually fine, and i was able to muddle my way home. after a dodgy few minutes.

What an epic end. Idiot to have tried to get home - but now i'm here, feeling weak , I'm glad i'm here not still in Toulouse..... (no food from 3pm yesterday until one piece of toast just now).

We have no idea how I got this acute food poisoning/gastric flu (assuming it was that).

lets' just say the washing machine is on.

Running 58:00 [3] 9.5 km (6:06 / km) +30m 6:01 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

thigh DOMS from thursday, from tuesday, from Sunday CSC.... hmmm.

Easy running with mainly Pete James near Toulouse as part of his corporate "challenger" training, v easy O in a flat , rock hard forest .

L calf stabbing pains initially, eased with hip stretches. Garmin omitted first loop of around 13 mins, 1.5km?

Very hot. Cut thru woods twice, regretted it both times & very nasty undergrowth)

NB> had bad wind in night, & then had a horrendous & massive dump in the woods. this could be relevant - we'll never know (see tomorrow).

last 15 mins thighs were giving way. weird. post viral fibro? hardly?

Busier at home with the ME/CFS work plus coordinating BUOC races, it was easier when i had a job!

Cycling 44:00 [2] 8.0 mi (5:30 / mi) +60m 5:22 / mi

Lots of cycling today - to & from town, to & from GP surgery.

Note: weight 67.8kg, and BP 124/75. that's OK.

warmdown (2 miles) https://www.strava.com/activities/2227194846

Must have cycled 12+ miles today.
3 PM

Cycling 19:11 [4] 8.05 km (2:23 / km) +28m 2:21 / km

Fancied a burn up & see if i could get under 20 mins for 5 miles on the bike, as my 10 mile time is always 45 mins & on normal roads. So after GP surgery, i joined the bristol-bath path & bashed out 2.5 miles, turned round. came back.

think it was a negative split which is weird as the way back seemed into a wind & slightly "uphill" (ie, not as flat as , well, flat).

the women's world best for 10 miles is about the same as my 5 mile time. Don't give up the day job, then. nb. tunnel means climb may be a bit off - Garmin says 181 feet - no WAY!

Running 42:47 [3] 8.23 km (5:12 / km) +70m 4:59 / km
shoes: Brookes Ravenna 8

Steady run in Froome valley - oldbury court.
Felt rough, not recovered from after effects of virus yet, need a few easy days yet. 5mins/km felt tough.

Finger is definitely a blood vessel damage - swollen & discoloured, but nothing sinister. not need for guitar playing either. (middle finger right hand)

Indoor climbing, Bloc , with Clio.

Was good, felt light; tweaked finger at end tho, hopefully just damaged blood vessel (s).

Thighs sore today! from a 37 min O race yesterday. Dear me!

Good to see Adam keeping up his Monday-marathon (or at least 20 miles) today. is this sensible?
