Orienteering race (Urban ) 17:30 [5] 3.49 km (5:01 / km) +40m 4:45 / km
shoes: Saucony Fastwitch 6

Swiss O week day 1 urban sprint- Gstaad. Hot! Small error on 4 & later; 25-45 seconds in total? Not a bad run. 2nd to Jan of Czech who I’ve been battling since Italy. 6 secs down. Podium/prize :-)

12 Swiss m55’s piles up behind me, keen no doubt to take bitter revenge once the real O starts. No Olly Bulholzer, tho (thankfully)

Walked some of the training in Saanan with Helen & Ruth (novice), took it very steady, then some of the urban training in the same village, distracted by antiques market, also very hot.

Races start tomorrow - great.

Note

Left Slovenia, but first, had to visit the Dovje crag again. Bouldered (hmm limited) so rope soloed 2 routes, including the attractive one to the LEFT of the ghastly foot-stuck-in-crack 5a (Kim needs to read this). It was awesome, but rope solo is v dangerous, one error & you’re dead. Idiotically, left glasses on top of pinnacle. Had to self belay & re-ascend pinnacle. Slovenian couple below decided I was mad/suicidal, but I climbed it twice before they’d even sorted out their rope.

Thence on, 7 hour drive west, Austria, Italy, resia pass. Tirol, Austria. Amazing views. And fond memories of 10 days spent well, in Slovenia.

Walking 2:20:00 [3] 7.0 km (20:00 / km) +200m 17:30 / km

Two things today, a day based in Mojstrana valley, lovely place. Walk from road head to Triglav’s amazing 1000m north face, wow. I can climb this- just need a few days to get fit/acclimated.

Then v easy dumbed-down via ferrata in Mojstrana- did the “difficult “ one in half the guide time, INCLUDING free climbing most of it (in trail shoes). 30 mins (guide: 1 hour). Vertical desire not satisfied yet. I’ll be looking for more climbing opportunities before Swiss O Week. Boulder at the Ella crag in the morning?

Both activities are on my strava with pics, can’t be arsed pasting links. Good day. Last one in fabulous Slovenia! ❤️

Walking 3:30:00 [1]

Lovely day so drive up to just below vršič pass at 1550m, as advised by Kim & Ricky, & did the stunning Sleme walk from there, back under crags, straight up to 1941m summit of Prednja robičje. Views great. Tired & head a bit off, but can’t complain.

Dipped legs etc in lake Jasna on way down. V glad I returned to Dovje/Kranjska Gora.....

Note
(rest day)

Easy day spent packing up at Sorisja Planina then heading to Decathlon in Ljubljana (yes really) to get a cheap camping chair etc. Then back up main valley to pleasant campsite just before Kranjska Gora, Dovje, where we climbed last week. Had haircut in salon in Jesenice to boot.

Have to say I feel pretty tired.
