Orienteering race 57:54 [5] 8.74 km (6:37 / km) +85m 6:19 / km
shoes: Innov8 MudClaw 300 2019

Welsh league, Whiteford Burrows, Brown again, not a "Middle", 7.2km / 170m.

Started a minute after Peter Suba so was lazy & reeled him in efficiently by no 3. Then promptly stopped thinking from ap for no 4 & hit no 5 - utter laziness/ carelessness. Back to 4. Back to 5. Peter & Christian Saxtoft back ahead again. Passed them again.

Fine for a bit then fell asleep on a great route to no 10. This was very bad. 4 mins at least, probably 4:30. Actually lost. Realised how very tired & sore i was feeling. Re-caught Peter & Christian very quickly and then just stuck it out to the finish, *making* myself drop them properly and press on. Some notably good legs, in fact from being over 7 mins behind Chas at no 10 (which is indefensible), I clawed back a minute.

Seriously need a rest. Great race from Jim.

Orienteering race 1:14:23 [5] 10.78 km (6:54 / km) +111m 6:34 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

SBOC welsh league, Broughton burrows, brown, 8.6km, 340m

Excellent course planned my Mark. I knew it would be tough technically, and i am not comfortable in brown spaghetti. Error on no 1 then lucky on no 4, but no 6 pace count error, 2 mins, struggled to locate at no 17 above start (!, 90 secs, no 19 was in circle but could NOT find flag - 2 mins (!). OK form there. Tired. Megan's time incredible but I was a little off Chas & Alistair's pace.

Good to have to focus for a long time but need to tighten up contour reading skills. Tired with very sore feet afterwards.

Orienteering race 1:01:24 [4] 9.05 km (6:47 / km) +143m 6:17 / km
shoes: Innov8 MudClaw 300 2019

Army MLS race, Bagshot , 4 x 1.8km / 55m loops each with about 6 controls. So 7.2km / 220m 61:24.

Went fine (no calf pain), but high bracken etc. meant i was slow, & lost a minute by being 40m from a control, but in head high bracken - hey ho.

2 or 3 20-40 second slips was all apart from that.

Not sure the legs were equal: I did 16:06, 13:26, 17:25! (the error), 14:27, I think, in order C-D-A-B.

Tomas Tuola did it 2 mins quicker when i left; would have had to bust a gut to beat that time but wasn't taking risks -just a run-out/practice prior to the september fixtures really (kicking off shortly).

BOK tuesday night run, from Tormarton, 7 miles, easy / steady pace. LH calf hurt on flats/roads/downhills; marred it somewhat. Hmm.

Nice evening, good & socialble.

Running 25:56 [3] 5.24 km (4:57 / km) +69m 4:39 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 5

Steady run on first proper day "home".

Dreaded LH calf pain, that i was worried about all day, didn't materialise in the slightest, (it hurt last thurs)

Makes one wonder how much credence the "Mind-body" brigade really have? I suspect a lot of it is what people choose/want to believe about the "mind-body" "link". But if my calf hurts, whether i worry or not, it hurts. If it doesn't, even if I'm desperately worried about it hurting, it doesn't.

Life's more obvious that way ;-)

Mind you, my lower back / buttocks really are sore. Groan...... too much driving / climbing.
