Note

My running club - very progressive they are, too, very "millennial" - & who have grown out of the road running boom with its 10ks & medals..... are all clamouring for Cross country to be "equal" . They're annoyed at the Gwent league's reluctance to instantly bow to their demands that men & women run the same distance,. not different , in their XC races.

Last month the women had two laps of the Cardiff course in their separate race, & I was well envious as I set off on my third & final lap of shame/muddy misery, but apparently the women would all rather also have three laps of pain not two.

Any thoughts? I'm looking at people like Megcd, housewifeward, cat_T etc.....

Could it be like Brexit? Say 48% want to run the same, ie. 10k of torture, and 52% wish to keep to a more humane 6km? who knows?

The poll is here: (wow, it is true that the world cross country this year was 10km for both men & women.... it used to be 12k for men & 8k for women I think.....) (tho the junior women ran less than junior men - weird.....)

Cycling 25:00 [2] 8.0 km (3:08 / km) +20m 3:05 / km

Slept terribly, including snotty nose, but no illness symptoms today, so hopefully another go at being "better".

Cycled into town (chores) & back , all seemed OK. Too late to "train" for S Champs now, of course.....

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Sinuses emptying. No sign on bacterial infection. No headache. Wary of doing anything tho.

Beer was so bad for me at the w/e (& this is most unusual), I've given up for the week. This is very unlike me. Don't miss it. Again, very unlike me.
2 PM

Walking 45:00 [0] 4.0 km (11:15 / km) +15m 11:03 / km
(sick)

Easy walk to get fresh air etc. Felt OK. Not ready to run yet.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Better than yesterday, but clearly something has got embedded in my sinuses, the w/e was too much too soon & I am not well. Head feels slightly woozy & "drunk". Not good.

Improved later in the day.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Woke up with headache & sinuses playing up again. Hmm - too much too soon (Blaise etc)? SHIT.

11 AM

Orienteering race 32:48 [4] 5.31 km (6:11 / km) +158m 5:23 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

BOK Blaise green course, 4.5km/ 165m , 3rd, 32:48

trundled round, Chris Kelsey (1 minute man) beat me on one leg as my path was windey, but I then got away v quickly. A bit confused at 9 (where to turn off?), & Clive had moaned about that too, & TBF i was faster than him on that leg.

Miles down; just getting round reasonably will do for today thanks. A new Lithuanian pipped Clive for the "win" - Clive & I know Blaise so well, it's barely a fair O comp.

result - new Lithuanian:

Note
(rest day)

Unticking "ill" box , as my sinus & lung irritations are now trivial.

20 days! oh the joy. Hopefully, that's that.

DOMS less bad than the other day. Progress.
