Orienteering race 38:57 [4] 6.11 km (6:22 / km) +166m 5:37 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

NWO Blue course, 5.6km / 175m, West woods

trundled round, very unfit, small error at no 5 (< 1 in) through bad direction & slope.

Started 1 min behind Jackie & overtook her as she lay on the ground having fallen at no 2. That was kind of me! (not) ...

A few brambles & mud made this nice but not *that* nice.

Also from last control to finish, I fell foul of the "Junior finish" which pulled me 40degs off my rough bearing. the lad behind me (Adam Mathven, caught him 2 mins at no 12) punched the junior finish anyway, and ran in to the main finish STILL behind me, so his run in time was 49 secs, to my 1:22. Wrong!

I was 1st, but the final long leg to 17 was horrid. Main thing is - am I healthy again? TBC.

Good day with Ben Maliphant who is on fire, he ran 10 miles in 70 mins BEFORE going straight to the start & winning Brown easily. He did PR Parkrun 15:57 yesterday. Great to see him so stoked.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

More energy today despite allergies to cats worsening (sinuses/lungs); no need to nap in the day.

*Obviously*, a rest day. Liz also improving (which is of course more important), & managed to get to her kitchen unaided.

Wondering i I make 2020 a fallow year, and stop trying to look for a chance to do an endurance sport when I have clearly lost all endurance capability.

Liz was in a very , very bad way last night. I'm staying here 24/7 now. She can't get up stairs, get on her "feet" unaided, prepare any food or drinks, and was understandably very upset indeed (after 5 weeks of unrelenting disability).

Her ACL was rebuilt from some hamstring tissue from the OTHER leg, so that leg is temporarily injured; her operated-on left knee also has had the MCL repaired with an internal "splint", and her flipped over cartilige (meniscus) was put back the right way. Massive leg brace on for the next 12 weeks. OMG.

I was utterly wrecked all day so just did what i had to to care for her, and napped both morning & afternoon.

Chronic fatigue again. My problem isn't as bad as Liz's.

Happy 2020 - "new year, new you!" they scream. Too fucking right. For both Liz & me.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Wiped out. Bugger. Annoying, but a 20 min run is currently too much and I think the weekend etc took it out of me.

Staying at Liz's most of the time, as she had her operation yesterday, she will be in a bad way for a while.

The rest period continues......... POM? OK, I guess......

THis is too tired to justify, tick ill again.

Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Sheffield "Awesome walls" climbing with Tim, both felt rough / tired after the w/e!

Good fun, tho shoulder still an issue. Did the speed route (same as Tokyo olympics), & our efforts can be seen (filmed them) on facebook. There was a teenage girl there flying up it, her best is 10 seconds....... I reckon i did under a minute twice.

Drove back home to Bristol.
