Orienteering race 44:15 [5] 5.26 km (8:25 / km) +209m 7:01 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

NGOC-50 Middle, Black course, 4.1km / 225m (entry courtesy of Mark saunders - hope his ankle is well on the mend....)

(poor sleep last night - post 1917 at cinema - jeeez. 5 hrs?)

Dreadful error (didn't see SI/ stake peeking out of the dip) at no 3 - missed by 5m, went further, though i'd overshot - I had - back again - miss by 5m again - back 80m; what's going on here????; up hill, saw flag - it's my no 4, back to no 3 , I've been here twice before - what's new? - oh there's the stake peeking up. Game over. Dib. Back to no 4. Except. Where is it? quick loop. another 60-90 secs. So much for winning a split you've just done in reverse. lost over 5 mins in first 12 mins.

OK from there until again, a tiny "niche" (no 18) by a boulder (as no 3) - wtf? No. over 3 mins on a leg that took 37 secs for someone else in my car.

Hard not to be very, very disappointed as I never run Black, this was nearly as terrible as the dark, days of Dolomites 5 days stages 2 & 4, plus the horrendous 5 minuter at VHI relay whilst leading for England.

R foot sore in the hours afterwards. Hmmmm. Don't remember doing anything, but found the rocks, mud, & slopes very hard to navigate & was mincing & also wincing. Low point.

Climbing (Bouldering) 1:00:00 [4]

Indoor bouldering at TCA with Dom, Steve R, Gnellie & Jude.

Not bad tho my RH shoulder is injured, I'm just in denial (impingement). Two painful tweaks.

One nice hard purple problem c.F6A / hard 5c. Plus mileage.

Running 24:18 [3] 5.02 km (4:50 / km) +48m 4:37 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 10

Wheezy post-bad cat night 5km on roads & non muddy stuff.

Not as bad as last week. Moving in right direction, I hope, but hips / lower back / buttocks felt awful.

Hoping to start staying at home now after 8 nights at Liz's and a really bad one last night (cats in face / stepping on head, & purring loudly, from 4:30am, little BASTARDS).

More importantly, Liz can now - hopefully - start being more independent. After 8 days she can now get up stairs (just) & sleep in her bed again. only 11 weeks to go....... :-(

Note
(rest day)

Trying to move back home again, as Liz is getting more mobile within her limits (crutches), but got home, and lodger Rachel is horribly ill with terrible sore throat ("Tonsilitis")? - she caught it off her bloke who was v unwell the previous w/e .

I CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT get this! Sore throats have cost me 5 years of my life.

Orienteering race 38:57 [4] 6.11 km (6:22 / km) +166m 5:37 / km
shoes: VJ Integrators

NWO Blue course, 5.6km / 175m, West woods

trundled round, very unfit, small error at no 5 (< 1 in) through bad direction & slope.

Started 1 min behind Jackie & overtook her as she lay on the ground having fallen at no 2. That was kind of me! (not) ...

A few brambles & mud made this nice but not *that* nice.

Also from last control to finish, I fell foul of the "Junior finish" which pulled me 40degs off my rough bearing. the lad behind me (Adam Mathven, caught him 2 mins at no 12) punched the junior finish anyway, and ran in to the main finish STILL behind me, so his run in time was 49 secs, to my 1:22. Wrong!

I was 1st, but the final long leg to 17 was horrid. Main thing is - am I healthy again? TBC.

Good day with Ben Maliphant who is on fire, he ran 10 miles in 70 mins BEFORE going straight to the start & winning Brown easily. He did PR Parkrun 15:57 yesterday. Great to see him so stoked.
