(sick) (rest day)

No change.

Wrote this about "where I am", health-wise, some history, & posted it on Facebook

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Too hot to contemplate even a walk. We need rain & clouds & a change from stuck weather patterns.

Still feeling off colour.

My only goal now is to feel OK. Nothing else matters. Sheffield postponed due to obvious health reasons, hoping for mid-late next week now. First test will be can I climb without exacerbating symptoms? I managed it in Slovenia after a horrendous 10-day ME/cfs crash....... The sweetest days are always just after the storm.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Online speed awareness course all morning.

A reminder of how badly 2020 started - literally in the first 15 minutes, I was done for speeding.

Feeling less "ill" today but clearly I need to stay that way, and to stay that way, I need to do very, very little.

From 19:13 5k and 39:56 10k 2-3 weeks ago to being scared to go for a walk.

This is chronic ME/cfs

And please don't say "you asked for it with all those time trials" - I have regularly finished actual races in a worse state in the heat (POM urban day 1; POM long; Dolomites 5 days 34degs sprint), and been ABSOLUTELY FINE (after collapsing for a bit in the shade with water etc). (POM day 1 i was seriously worried - very wrecked at the end - yet later that evening i ran the night sprint and loved it - and was fine).

I just carry a random curse. Could do with some cool damp weather too. This is just too intense - dry, hot, sunny, for me, now.

Still feeling utterly shit .. Returned to bed midday & slept for an hour - out of it :-(

Not as bad as Graz last summer, but this is serious now, & I need to go into emergency rest mode to shake this latest ME/cfs relapse off.

Gutted. And angry. And confused (never has running or rock climbing in the UK made me feel so awful)

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Beaten up (climbing) (sunburnt calves! from belaying in sun); rest day & hope feelings of ghastliness do not return. The thought of running / doing UsynligO courses makes me feel sick.

Let's have a total break. Not a good day really. Too hot (29degs in shade); feel flat & with no usual zip. Don't think it's all about the weather.

Climbing 2:00:00 [3]
(sick)

Still feeling off colour. Told Liz I'm now "scared to run again". Incessant great weather etc isn't really agreeing with me.

Day in Avon Gorge with Dom Goodwin, trad rock climbing. Did vastly more than intended, or was sensible, 5 routes / 9 pitches, including two that had worrying moves. (both only around 4b, but on a 45deg slab) (& one horribly polished). We essentially climbed the whole height of the gorge twice (plus a warmup). RH shoulder even better! https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/showlog.php?id=...

In sun a lot and just threw caution to the winds re. health (out SEVEN hours!), and the cold beer in the early evening was sublime; this is actually what climbing is all about. Sheffield & the Peak next week .....?

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Easy walk with Liz at Burrington Ham. She with walking/OAP stick and finding it tricky in places, v slow. nearly 6 months now since her accident :-(

Felt "peaky" again - all this hot dry weather & running in it anyway. Not sure I'm robust enough for it really. Had to lie down in the cool & nearly slept, when we got in.

Edit: not good - not sure I can run in these temperatures, each run leaves me "battered" - & i then feel rotten and i mean ROTTEN. It's mild CFS. Road running shoes & time trials now gathering dust. That went well, then.
