Sunday Dec 3 #

orienteering 20:00 [3]

Again made a big mistake on the relay. But overall it was a really fun day. Inara is walking around at this point. Crazy how fast they grow.

Decided to do orange at the mid-atlantic champs so that i felt comfortable doing the relay also. Was kicking ass until i missed number 5. Went back to get it and finished strong, beating Boris and Inara, but felt stupid to waste the time.

A very nice hike with Boris, baby, and beast.
We started out with the intention of doing the whole of rock creek park... down western ridge and back valley trail. At the Kenny parking lot, there was a lot of construction and laying of asphalt (read: fumes), so I had us turn back at that point. This meant we couldn't join valley trail until back up by military road.
Still, this was the longest I have had Inara in the backpack, so gradually increasing the time is fine with me.

A friend came over and we went hiking together. We didn't get as far as I normally go, nor as fast. But sometimes it is nicer to have good company than to get a good workout.

I cancelled the babysitter for today so that I could go hiking with my baby and beast. It was another great day to be in the park. We definitely chose the right place to live (given that we are living in the DC metro area for now.) The only thing missing was the husband.

I have realized that while I listen to audio books, Inara has very little interaction. Still, she doesn't complain much (one or two screeches over the 2 hours), so she must enjoy looking around and being out in the forest. I like that.
