Once we were out of the 'death zone', the kids' spirits picked up and they started running down. The Moms took it easy, it was a steep and slippery descent. I was glad to have poles!
Overall, an epic adventure but I am not going back there any time soon!

A challenging hike up Grotto Mountain, with Amik, Dale, Evan and his Mom.
A very steep climb to the ridge. The trail was not well defined, so we were wandering up and down the scree. Eventually, we popped back on the ridge and followed it to the top. The wind was pretty strong and it got more fierce as we were coming down. In fact, it was so strong that for part of the ridge trail, we were crawling as we were not able to stand up! It was pretty scary, specially because the kids were with us and we could see fear in their eyes.
We hid behind a rock wall to strategize and pick the best and safest way out. We climbed over a wall, holding to the rock with all our might and managed to pass the worst section. I think I aged about 5 years in those 20 minutes or so....

Trail Culture run.
We started in my neighborhood so I run to the meet-up place as a warm up.
We did Highline out and back (still many closures in Canmore due to bear activity). I was so happy that I was able to run all the way up to the first trail intersection, pass the bridge! Yay - big breakthrough for me!!!! :)

Nice and easy run with David from the Nordic Centre to Banff.
What a coincidence to meet Carbon and Annie half way, on their bike ride from Banff! We chatted for a bit and continued on. No other people on the trail. The worst part is getting to the Golf Course in Banff and running for 5km on pavement.
