Meet Directing
Was up very late the night before. Got to bed around 2. Got up at 4:30. Left my place around 6:30. Got to the park around 7.
Got everything set up with help from the first shift volunteers.
Disappointing turnout for Mountain Bike O. We probably need to do a better job advertising this sort of even, especially at this park, to groups like MORE.
Excellent turnout for Classic O considering that there were no JROTC groups joining us. The groups from West Point, Annapolis, and the Coast Guard Academy helped to make up the difference. We ran out of Orange maps but were able to get a number of people, mostly cadets from West Point, to return their maps after they ran the course.
On the whole it went very well. No real problems. We had all the controls picked up and were out of the park by 4:30, before the sunset.
I had a bit of trouble getting volunteers for the 12 - 1:30 shift. I think next time I may make the first shift from 10:30 to 12:30 and the second one from 12:30 - 1:30. That way people on the first shift have 2.5 hours after their shift to run a course and people on the second shift have 2 hours before their shift to run a course which seems more equitable.
