I headed out after most of the commuter traffic was off the road to get a longer ride with a bit more elevation in. I don’t have a lot of time to work on that before a probable Calgary to Canmore ride early July.

I had to peal off some clothes at 15km, just after the first climb and the fastest descent in the area. Then an easy pace through the lower farm lands before climbing back up to the good lake views and forests full of trilliums. I didn’t take a photo at the first sighting and then went 10km without seeing any more, thinking I had missed my chance and might have to double back. Luckily I found another stretch of them and stopped the trike. I did fill my speed play cleats with wet sand so had to fiddle that to get going again.

I did notice that the more remote parts of this ride only have 3G cell service so no instant gramming. I accidentally came back west of Queensville side road which meant a 404 intersection. Luckily highway access was off the left both ways so nobody needed to cut in front of me. This accidental routing did make it clear that Yonge St to the 404 is destined to be filled with housing all the way up to Queensville. That’s a lot of new people to put on the roads.
