Greenspeed on river path for a rematch at a bit quicker pace. Once again I have to declare a bit of amazement at how much lower the heart rate stays when the body is mostly parallel to the ground rather than perpendicular.

I might have to get a bush trike after all.

Greenspeed on river path with Mrs. who wanted to go 20km. First time on the trike this season and the heart rate was very low, so I'll have to do another run to see if that sticks.

I also have to remember to put the shoes on a little less tight on this bike because my toes got quite numb after about half an hour.

The primary objective was to test a zip tie patch to the rivet that popped on the downtube of my carbon fibre frame. The popped rivet messed up the tension on the front derailleur cable so that it could no longer shift to the big chain ring. Possible solutions were:
- make a warranty claim and pay to ship the bike to Utah were it may or may not be fixed under warranty (though the dealer did say I could get a refund on the bike if need be - though their is no chance of replacing it for what I paid)
- take it to Ajax where there is a guy who will replace the two rivets on that piece for $50 each
- put on some zip ties to hold it firm to the frame at the location controlled by the remaining rivet

So...up and down the hills of the Oakridges Moraine and practice shifting. The relatively new payment on Kennedy between Aurora Road and Mulock made for a good test because its hills are reasonably steep (one is 20%) but not so long as to be punishing. Everything worked and I managed to crest the steepest hill without setting of the heart rate alarm.

Ride along the river with the Mrs. Her first ride of the season. She seemed to like the bit of single track we rode and was even willing to cross the river on a 6x8 beam wedged into the mucky bank.

Met up with Bash who tried to bust my veins on a bit of single track, a decent amount of double track, up and down hilly roads in the general vicinity of Palgrave and Albion hills.
I rebelled against the single track fairly quickly because I clearly need better technique to keep from grounding my pedals in the sides of the worn in parts of the trail - it might also save more pedal rebuilds.
The objective was some hill based cardio, so mission accomplished. My Garmin read a couple of hills at 15% and one, thankfully quite short, at 18%.
As a bonus, my legs got more work on the short quick climbs than they have had in a very long time.
My distance is short by about 2.5 km when I forgot to restart the computer, but I'm recording the numbers as I read them.
Great ride with a great guide.
thanks Bash.
