I like to ride the distance of flight's run events when I can't watch them. The fixie seemed like a good way to start since it is al legs.

Pretty good pace for a fixie and even managed a sub 12 interval when the lights worked in my favour.

Mountain bike (Big Unit) 1:47:00 [3] 30.7 km (3:29 / km) +143m 3:24 / km
ahr:123 max:155 shoes: Gekko

Part two of riding flight's run distance.
Sticking with one gear, but this time not fixed, and big disc brakes to address the needs of a greater volume of traffic.
A great morning to be out riding.

Today's observation: a tale of two couples.
Couple one I saw as I crested the biggest climb. They were riding abreast on the left side of a two lane road with a good amount of traffic. This forced cars to drift into the oncoming lane (my side) which in turn forced cars in my lane closer to the edge of the road. The couple took a notion to switch sides after a kilometre or so. Neither looked back or signalled. The crossed about a car length I front of traffic. About four blocks later they decided to turn left and just drifted over in the lane - no mirrors, no shoulder check, no signal. I was going to go left at the same place but went right instead.

Couple two were on matching bikes and in matching suits down to the white aero helmets. Dead straight about a wheel apart a consistent 15 cm left of the outer edge of the right lane.

Just an easy morning ride enjoying the sun before it gets hot and humid. Winds about 25km weren't a bother today. I did note in a couple of spots with a gusting cross wind that the new tires do not drift. The observation I made when first trying them a couple of weeks ago clearly turned out to be rider expecting a drift and not the tires actually moving. Great set of rubber.

Traffic was a bit heavier than usual, but I did steal an extra half hour of sleep this morin band spent a couple of km fine tuning the rear derailleur before getting the ride started. I never feel I can get the adjustment 100% on a bench.

The commuters seemed to be out early today. Only two tried to do me harm, both texting while turning. The one making a left turn in front of me I was prepared for because she was in from of me. I was not expecting the guy made a sharp right across my front coming from behind - that one took a big grab of brake to slow down enough to get missed by about 40cm.

But it was warm and sunny.
