I wasn't going to ride today, but when I got up the temperature read 7C so I pretty much had to. The air was quite damp and the 5 mph winds quickly became 15, but it was a peaceful morning and a good way to work up an appetite for a nice brunch.
Brunch was made more interesting by the fact that the place we went to had a sign out front saying "Sorry for the inconvenience. We're closed. You can get brunch across the street." We did. It was quite good.
Tack: brp 15 - slope by distance starting with a batch of 6% grade. Total elevation of 255m over 34km. The chart isn't to scale so it is hard to say what distance the bulk of the elevation was in about 8km.
It is a bit annoying that you don't get very good statistics after a programmed ride - probably part of an extra software option I don't have.
Heart rate started showing 50-60 not long into the cool down, which was clearly wrong.

I waited as long as I could for the wind chill to settle down, but it didn't appear to be happening, and Bash liked a primal post of fat biking in the snow, so off I went.
The wind was quite fierce at 30 km/hr with noticeable gusts. The mission for today was to plot out the little side paths on the northern part of the Aurora trail. There are quite a few of them in one area where specimen trees have been planted.
Those paths took me to a couple of things I wouldn't have otherwise seen: one was a very big memorial mentioning a tree that appears to no longer exist. The other was a very big oak alone in the middle of a field. Around here, the big oaks are normally very near the river and usually end up falling in.
