Long way to the bike shop, meaning I did the south loop before going to the shop north of use. I used 87 of the 88 minutes Mrs. gave me to meet her there before lunch. 11C to start so I wore a jacket which was not remotely necessary when I got there.
I was pretty sure I knew what the underlying problem with the seat dropper was, but we did a quick run through at the shop to get it set up properly from first principles. Cleaned off the telescoping portion of the post - I didn't know until looking up the Specialized manuals on-line that it was recommended that the bike be transported with the seat down. I can see the sense in that, but my instinct had been to leave the seat up so it didn't pop into someone's face. Snugged up the cable (the main problem). Started over with setting pressure. Two versions of the seat (neither mine) gave very different ranges for the pressure: one said 15-20psi, the other 30-40psi. Turns out mine works best with less than 10psi - determined by trial and error.
I was tempted to take the long way home too, but I'm trying to keep to a rolling 10 hours for a few more days. It is much harder than it might seem.
