Funny how different it is in a house with no communication, other than an outbound only phone. Finding new homes for a bunch of stuff at the London mom's.

Other warm up/down (Brisk walk) 37:00 [2] 4.5 km (8:13 / km)

10C and light rain seemed a good time to try a fast walk. If it's good enough for the Vancouver marathon, it should be ok for me. It isn't nearly as punishing as running on my joints and I can control my air intake much better.

I can go faster. Heart rate felt mostly in the 120s. I might have nudged 130 when the rain picked up near the finish. I did notice that the faster pace than a Mrs. walk seems easier on my legs, in that I believe I can go farther.

The standing on the left leg while swinging weights in my arms is working well again.

Tricksy weather today.

I had planned a road ride on a morning when roads should be quiet, but there was a heavy fog so I paused a bit and got ready to take the mountain bike on the trails. All set to go and the sun was out, so I put the mountain bike away and got out something for the road. Shortly after getting out, the sun turned to cloud and as I made the turn back west, 18.2km from home it started to rain.

I took that as incentive to try to climb the steepest northbound hill on Kennedy on the big ring. Cresting at 18km/hr instead of my usual 10-12 made for a very speedy descent down the wall of doom. The rain seemed to clear so I turned back south to try for a 40km ride. I got red at all the uphill lights heading back home. Traffic was pretty civilized even on Mulock.

I did get cussed out for riding in the middle of the road - while I was making a left turn. Apparently 70m is too long to be positioned for a left on residential streets. He came up after I was already in the lane to turn, and had lots of room on the right. Maybe he was venting early so he could be nice to his mom today.

Note

It is amazing how much pollen is on the evergreens out back. I created a pollen storm brushing by them while mowing. 8 batteries to finish the lawn. I think I'd like a solar charger so tending the yard would be green.

I was looking for a 40-45km route without too much traffic. I overshot a bit but managed decent traffic except between Warden and the 404 alongi g Bloomington. There were quite a few dump trucks passing close along there while tossing rocks.

North along the river then east to Warden and south to Bloomington. There were a handful of solo riders on Warden today, all but one of them women.

At 30 km I stopped to tighten my right cleat, which had felt loose while climbing the moraine. A women stopped her car to see if I was ok, which was quite nice. To make up for it some guy honked his horn at me the whole way through the single lane under the 404 - he didn't like to be slowed to 40 km/hr through the fairly short construction zone.

Note

Working on the lawn won out over cleaning dirty bikes this afternoon. What is the world coming to.

All the side streets and most of the alleys of Rehoboth. We found all of the cool little cafes and book stores.
