Another morning a bit cold for my clothes. Today I decided to explore the residential inland from where we are staying. I took a right turn philosophy with many dead ends. Quite a few streets are built on what used to be a golf hole - 3 courses have closed since we came here 12 years ago.

There was an interesting contrast between the streets built around the original golf courses and the ones built along fairways after the courses closed. It was a relaxed ride with minimal traffic.

It was too cold to go out without a base layer first thing. By the time it warmed up Mrs. decided she would like another beach ride, so we went out together. Somehow she reset her Garmin and wasn’t sure how to get it to recognize her heart strap so I made a point of keeping my heart below 120 so hers wouldn’t get up to 150.

Another beautiful day on the beach.

The coffee shop ride.

It was a bit chilly at 11C for the clothes I brought, so I toured the local coffee shops. I didn’t stop. I just rode by scouting them out. The sun warmed things up nicely about 10km into the ride.

I did notice that the highway access road is much riskier to spend time on than the actual highway. There are too many people ensure about right of way and the meaning of yield signs. The beach road is much nicer than either.

I paused a bit hoping the roads would dry up from last night's rain, but it was going slow so I went out about half an hour after sunup. The road was pretty dry by 10km, but the bike lane (when it existed) didn't dry until well into the return trip.

I headed north to do the beach road through Myrtle Beach. This meant about 5km of highway to get there, which turned out not to be too bad for the baby bike. Two buses decided they needed to pass my on the short ramp to the beach and then I played leap frog with them and a third for most of the next 5km - not great for respiration. Then I played obstacle course with delivery vehicles that couldn't agree whether they should park in the bike lane or the centre lane. At 15km I got past all that had had a nice sunny ride along the beach.

The return back through town was slowed by random pedestrians strolling to the other side of the street where apparently the coffee was crisper. A bit of a headwind started about half way through the return, which is normal for here.

This is as far as I've gone on the Brompton, and is probably close to its limit, or my legs limit on it.
