Road cycle (Brompton ) 1:13:00 [3] 17.3 km (4:13 / km) +227m 3:58 / km
ahr:131 max:157

Ride around the lake road while most of the party crowd was still sleeping. Most of the road was terrible: rough surface, 1 1/4 lanes wide and poor sight lines. Plenty of steep little ups and downs with 15+% being fairly common.

Oh...and the roads were poorly marked. Still, it as nice to have enough energy to give it a go.

EDIT: how could I have left out the dog attack. I came downhill around a corner to see two fairly large dogs walk out of the wood and look my way. I thought it might be annoying, but then two more followed them. I had some hope that they would just bark, but it was ominous. Two ran across the road and they set themselves up to put me in a little box about 4m wide and 7m long. The one on the front left did a couple little deeks towards me so I yelled at it. It backed off half a meter and then started switching sides in front of me. Who knows what it had in mind. After a couple hundred metres of this I used my most threatening voice to cuss the black dog out. That seemed to make it less confident it was boss and it fell back. Or maybe I was just out of their territory.

Other 50:00 [1]

Same mix as yesterday.
The water felt much colder. Perhaps yesterday’s thundershower (it is a small lake). Perhaps my temperature was higher.

flexibility 45:00 [1]

Finished with a swim in a lake that was the perfect temperature. I didn’t note the time when I went from a shorter flexibility routine on a wooden dock (I need a bit of padding for some things) and the swim, but about 50:50.

I feel quite a bit better now though my brain feels a bit mushy. And I didn’t have a drop of the 7 bottles of wine that were apparently consumed last night.

Note

Today was a washout. I got out of the car at the hotel yesterday mid afternoon in 32C and felt like I was freezing. Not a good sign. I drank a bunch and rested a bunch and hoped it would go away overnight.

Not so much. I didn’t feel like doing any of my normal morning routine. A bit of yogurt for breakfast and an eight hour drive to finish the trip. I sipped something every half hour and we made more stops than usual.

weight training 50:00 [2]

Day 2 free weights in the hotel gym.

My right arm issues seem to have moved to the left arm. Oddly it didn’t impact pushups.

Feeling much closer to normal today.

Mountain bike (FatBoy ) 1:27:00 [2] 23.3 km (3:44 / km) +96m 3:40 / km
ahr:127

Took the FatBoy around the north loop to see if the new trail was ready for Mrs. It is.

The trail was very busy with all of the shopping closed. A number of families need to try to remember that they should all stop dead across the entire trail to chat. They can talk just as well off to one side. It seemed natural to them to cover the trail at the brow of a hill around a bend, or at the very end of a bridge.

Oh well. It was good to see so many people out. The day is perfect for being outside.

Next up: another rousing round of mowing with batteries.
