Year end review
I came pretty close to most of my stated goals for the year. I haven't quite mastered the impact of building at Habitat on my exercise plans. My legs are generally too tired after full work day on my feet to want to do much else. Sometimes the wear carries over to the next day and constrains what I am prepared to do. I think the net is that there was less intensity in my training, particularly the last 3 months or so of the year.
I didn't do any races - largely circumstances. I had expected a fat bike race and a snow shoe race early on and was otherwise occupied for the beginning of the year.
I had fewer 100km days than planned, but I had plenty of 80-99km days and my real objective was to have more longer rides so I'll declare a victory.
I went well past my non-cyclying target distance, but very little of it was running. Running just isn't working for me, though I may give it one more try - maybe 1km once a week.
This is the first year I don't feel like my endurance progressed. I'm not sure if that is a hard marker in the aging timeline, or just circumstances. I want to try a 12 hour race this year. I don't expect to place. I just want to see if I can set a pace that I can maintain for that long, or perhaps more correctly: set a pace that will let me continue for that long.
I did find quite a few new places to ride, which makes it more interesting. Most of it was Friday Bikesporing, which I plan to start again when it is true biking season - as opposed to biking in spite of the season season.
