I had a bit of free time before day 4 of the birthday celebrations start so took Bash’s admonition to heart and went out to pre burn some calories. I thought I could squeeze in a 500 calorie effort before 9. 20km at around 150 bpm, then a few cool down laps to get the heart back to 130.

River walk with Mrs and J. Original plan was aborted because a rail crew blocked our access. It just had us go to a less traveled section, which happened to remind Mrs of Second Wedge, so we went for flights. With an ice cream chaser.

This was a test of the area I think I will try to ride 200km in a couple of weeks. I wanted to find more of the lakeshore to the east, and was happy to find out I could go a fair ways without much time on heavily travel roads. I was also looking for a rest area with running water. The giant sports complex had locked bathrooms, but the pioneer village had open ones. Not a bad location, but I’ll carry sanitizer so I’m not dependent on it. And enough of my own water in the car.

With about 30km of good lakeshore to work with, I’ll probably park somewhere near the middle to give myself a pause opportunity every 25-35km.

Front door, back door weather

Rain was forecast all day so I planned on weight training this morning, but looking out the back, the sky was clear blue. By the time I got ready and walked out the front, there was heavy cloud. I was pretty sure I could get a couple hours in before it really rained.

Traffic was heavier than I like. The commuter time just keeps stretching. The cars were almost all respectful. The exception was two cars decided to make a right on red while I was turning left on an advanced green. They seemed to want to leave me trapped in the middle of the road.

A bit cool, but nice.
