Canada Day toodle around the neighbourhood. A perfect day. So much so that it was impossible to find a spot that wasn’t full of people. Fairy Lake was particularly busy.

83rd time the country has taken the day off for my mom’s birthday.

Mountain ride with Flight. She put her power pedals and used road shoes.

We started with my typical river ride and then went into the Holland Landing forest area. This is very lightly used and has a wide mix of terrain: pine needles, loose sand, bog. There are lots of options so it is a good place to go and ride around as long as you want. It isn’t mapped out, and there isn’t any indication of when you are entering or leaving the official forest area. Hordes of mosquitoes so you have to keep moving.

I think it might take most of a day to map it out.

When we got home, Flight found out she accidentally got some 2nd best time segments on an ill fitting mountain bike with road shoes.

flexibility 10:00 [1]

Just the essentials before going to a wet race.
8 AM

Walk/hike 45:00 [1] 4.3 km (10:28 / km)

Wandering Saint George between laps. Pretty good course for spectators since you could catch racers about every five minuets

weight training 43:00 [2]

Day 2 free weights and push ups - it’s been so long since doing push-ups that I could only manage 40 at a time

Note

We had an interesting group at Habitat today. Half wanted to work hard and half were more interested in photo opportunities. This might have been encouraged by the 4 full time media staff their company sent. That was reasonably easy to work around.

What was most frustrating was the number of people who drank half of 3 single use water bottles. They kept leaving half a bottle on a window ledge or somewhere and going to get another one. We keep water coolers so you can fill anything with as much cold water as you want from 18l jugs. Oh well.
5 PM

Walk/hike 45:00 [1] 5.1 km (8:49 / km)

A bit of a walk about to loosen up the construction kinks before driving to Quebec tomorrow to watch some racing. Lucky I had a room booked because somehow Flight’s reservation wasn’t made when the rest of the team’s was - she needs a change of direction in the mojo trend.
