Beach ride with Mrs.
I was curious how many jurisdictions we could find license plates from: 41

A few little surges when I took side trips to confirm what looked like a new plate in the distance, then a finishing surge to get the house unlocked so she could bring her bike in.

Ride you age stage 6

15C and overcast with moderate winds made it near perfect for a longer ride. I had observed that just riding my age wasn’t especially challenging so I thought maybe I should try to increase my eddington age. I remembered targets being 71 (metric) and 80 (imperial), but the other day when I stretched to 71km, it turned out I needed 4 rides to hit the new mark.

So today I went for 50 miles to hit a new imperial number. The 80.4 km came pretty east today so I stretched to 81 thinking it would make the next milestone easier - a brain fart though since that doesn’t add a mile. Oh well.

Wind was about 20 km/hr heading north so I tried to keep my heart rate around 140 to conserve energy. I pushed a bit harder with the tailwind to get a bit of intensity 5 time.

Walk/hike warm up/down 30:00 [1] 2.8 km (10:43 / km)

Barefoot at high tide with Mrs, giving my sore right foot a rest.

I wore Zoot tights with suspenders and they worked well at a walking pace.

Ride your age stage 5

Mrs wanted to go to Pawley’s Island, so we drove to Litchfield by the Sea and road from there. The south end of the island was very sandy, so my rear tended to wash out a bit. A bunch of photo stops off the clock stretched the ride out.

We got back to the truck at 26km and after a Starbucks stop, she was ready for more, so I took her to Murrels Inlet. 46km when we got back to the truck, so I said I would ride back to the house.

A bit quicker pace going back, particularly on the road stretches, though I slowed a bit when I moved to the narrow ‘bike lane’ for traffic to pass.

Relaxed ride while Mrs shopped for beads.
Traffic, wind and construction ensured I didn’t get too aggressive.

Ride your age stage 4

It was a bit chilly to start at 3C but the air was still so I headed out in a bunch of layers. I picked up a bit of headwind at 19km so had some hope of beating the return headwind that the forecast promised.

It was still only 7C at the turn around, where I started a LiveTrack for Mrs. The wind stayed light to start the return and neutralized after about 8km as I road through the delivery trucks along the high density hotel zone.

I got back to the house a bit short of my target so made a quick stop to shed some layers for 13C and decided to ride the full stretch south so I would have the full beach ride on one map.

Nutrition: 2/3 Tailwind, 2/3 cliff blok
